That is a beautiful pistol Todd! Wow. I've always had a soft spot for hard chromed Hi-Power's. You did this one right! Ok, stupid question time: What is the difference between the Detective and Pathfinder? Of course I remember when the Argentina Hi-Powers offered a Detective Model. And remember when C&S introduced the Pathfinder. But what actually is the difference? Are they the same size pistol but with just different names? They look identical to my tired eyes.

Thanks for the comments on the Hi Power from APW/Bob Cogan. He does great hard chrome work, as well as pistolsmithing. I think most shortened Hi Powers or Hi Power clones use the generic term Detective, which was originally the shortened version of the FM/Argentine Hi Power clones of the 1990s, along with their Detective slide kit. Many now use the name to describe a shortened or chopped slide Hi Power. Cylinder & Slide uses the name Pathfinder for their custom chopped Hi Powers, or at least on some of their shortened versions. Vintage smith Austin Behlert called his shortened slide Hi Power the Combat Hi Power, and his shortened slide and grip the mini combat. Since FM's Detective was, as far as I know the only mass produced shortened Hi Power model, the name Detective has been used to describe most shortened/chopped slide Hi Powers. Sort of like the Commander for 1911s, although I am not a 1911 guy. Image of my 69c Behlert Combat

Thank you for the clarification Todd. I just wasn't sure if there was a distinct difference other than a name. I've only handled a "shortened" Hi-Power once or twice over the years which was the FM and I vaguely remember that! Once this SA-35 gets itself out of the weeds and reliably spitting out lead, I'll see what gun plumbers are offering a combat sized Hi-Power on their menu. To the best of my limited knowledge it's currently C&S as the Pathfinder.
Oh my god is your Austin Behlert Combat Hi-Power calling my name..... It's beautiful! Of course the hard chromed finish, 1911 style barrel bushing, early extended safety, S&W rear sights and the other obvious modifications. You shouldn't be showing me these custom tools two days before Christmas. Ha! I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'll have one sometime late 2022. Thank you, Todd.
