Image posted on Facebook group from a recent SA-35 purchase. Not pleased with the finish work, a lot of machine marks behind the cocking serrations. Would like to see more early adapters post images and comment on quality.

NOT defending nor faulting SA for the tooling marks in the image, but how would one remedy them? Bead blast, polish & re-blue? I agree that there should be nothing for the new owner to have to remedy. I'm just wondering what the fix is.

I agree that there should be nothing for the new owner to have to remedy. I'm just wondering what the fix is. The machine marks dont look that deep. I would think some light filing, wet/dry silicon carbide sandpaper would probably smooth it out. The bigger issue is the refinishing of the bare metal after working on it. Can it be matched, or does the complete pistol need refinishing for a consistent finish amongst parts. One option would be to try to send back to SA for a replacement. I have also heard of an issue of a firing pin plate falling out when racked. Still very limited comments as of yet on quality control issues and non functioning parts. The reported issues seem very isolated, and given it is a newly manufactured pistol, I think there a few glitches would be expected. So far it has been rather limited, but is seems very few are in the hands of folks who really know hi powers. It will be interesting to see as more SA-35s get into the hands of real Hi Power enthusiasts and they start posting reviews.

I just now paid for one in full... Kentucky Guns is taking a limited number of back orders, with no expected date of arrival.
My new pistol arrived in Bardstown, KY today and will be on its way to Chicago tomorrow. I should be able to pick it up on Monday or Tuesday... maybe Sunday if delivery is fast.
Cheers,
Tim

Great news Tim, and that was a pretty quick turnaround. I have no sympathy for those paying $1200+ on GB. I have not heard back from two local gun shops and Brownells is still showing not in stock, Hopefully soon. Looking forward to your comments and review.

I counted 51 SA-35s up for auction on GunBroker just now. All of the current bids are north of what I'll have invested after my local FFL fee. One had a Buy Now price of $2500! I will likely be shooting mine before most of those "winners" have won their auctions. Crazy people!
A guy whom I do not know (from a FaceBook group) purchased one from an LGS I do not know for the going retail price of $679. I think there may be a whole bunch of them out there.
First pics and comments re the finish and feel will be posted moments after I get home and fire up the trigger gauge. I have a spare extended slide stop for easier disassembly as I go through things. That will be the first part tested. Maybe check a BHSS Barrel and Buffered Recoil Guide Rod for fit. I recently put my spare SFS kit into that accidental Alloy pistol I won on GunBroker. Perhaps I can swap parts between the two pistols and see if the SA stuff fits in the FN pistols.
I'm hearing whispers that SA might actually be fabricating the frame and slide in the US. I wonder if it's being done in Geneseo or have they farmed it out to someone?
Cheers,
Tim

And I have even less sympathy (and actually considerable disdain) for the skin-merchants who are CHARGING such exorbitant prices

I won't receive mine until the end of next week due to a huge number of guns waiting to be shipped from Kentucky Guns. No expedited processing available, so at least I cannot be tempted to spend more money!
Six SA-35s arrived at their shop yesterday... all were spoken for.
Patience!
Cheers,
Tim

I have seen unconfirmed rumors this morning of an SA-35 with "broken parts" in the office of a local Chicagoland gun store. Same gun store has seen one or maybe two more with "bad parts". My local CC Forum source says it will be a week before he teaches his next class and can learn more...
Cheers,
Tim

That is a good question... At first blush I thought it would drive FN HP prices down... but maybe not... once people get a taste of the new version, they may develop a wish to sample the original... Will be interesting to watch... I wonder what this pistol coming into the market will do to the value of original FN/Browning Hi Powers... I don't think it will do anything to the FN market price, but it may strongly influence the value of FEG's and Kareen's If they get back under $300 I may purchase another

I feel that SA will bring out this gun in stainless in the near future. I can only hope that SA also brings out a "Detective Model". If so, my bank account is going to take a hit!! ++ me too on the 'detective model' !! That would be awesome

BHSS has an SA-35 which they are now evaluating and testing. Three new videos are out as well as their written SA-35 Evaluation Analysis. Some good news in the report, they do state in one of the videos that the sight cuts are the same as the Tisas BR9, smaller front sight dovetail, much larger rear sight dovetail. Unfortunately they do not comment on the new SA 35 barrel cam lug design, so not sure of the interchange/compatibility possibilities between slides and frames. For the written report (PDF), link is drive.google.com/file/d/1CeTh6Rvam5yIqGlC0QixOCm9vZHaiWeV/view?usp=sharingFor the three videos, the Youtube link is www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLl3nqk1h7btLNN6Csc6rY8M8-wwNvMjx9

ToddSig: Is it "good news" if the SA-35 is, in part or in whole, a Tisas gun?

ToddSig : Is it "good news" if the SA-35 is, in part or in whole, a Tisas gun? Hi Mr C, I was not clear in my post, I meant to infer that the good news was that BHSS reported on the dovetail cut, so we now know what it it. Bad news, is the cut is the same as the Tisas dovetails which are proprietary and difficult to replace without major machine shop work. Then connecting the dots with the dovetail size, are the slides and frames Turkish made??? If the SA-35 slide and/or frame are Tisas/Turkish manufactured, I think the SA-35 will lose some its current shine, credibility and buyer interest. That said, there has been plenty of speculation on where the slide and frame are manufactured, such as Turkey, Philippines, Argentina, etc. Right now we are just connecting the dots, and Springfield Armory states "Made in the USA" but there has not been any clarification on what that means, such as assembled in the USA, finished in the USA or whatever interpretation there is. I think many folks, especially those paying the early premiums of over $1000 will be greatly disappointed if it primarliy a Turkish clone and not a US made Hi Power clone.
