Good morning Laszlo. Thank you for the immense contribution you have made to the available knowledge of the FEG Hi Power. Your presense on this site makes a world of difference to those of us who own and love the FEG. I'm wondering if you can estimate the production year of my pistol; the serial number is F 26267. The pistol is in near pristine condition and knowing when it was made would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for any help you can provide, and please keep up the good work !
Kind regards, Glenn (olduke).
Until Laszlo returns... per a date chart re F series annual serial number ranges, my guess would be 1985.
This was posted 1/10/21 and I believe you can find it on the first page of this thread.

Hi all, I have a Feg FP9 with serial number VV950#, I see the VV serial numbers stop at VV8600, mine is identical to the V3 version, it does not have any import markings whatsoever only the Feg factory markings, curiously it is fitted with a Browning serial numbered barrel (I checked the Browning website and it tells me the barrel manufacture date and 9mm calibre, I would like to know more about this Feg, it is a very reliable firearm never malfunctions on any type of ammo be it fmj, hollow point , lead round nose or semi jacketed lead tip. Thanks for any information in advance and thank you for adding me

Welcome to the forum. Can you post some images of your FP9?

ToddSigI am unsure how to add images to this forum, if you know how and could explain how to me I can then add the images for you. Thank you.

lyallf65, go to reply, top right corner is "add attachment" and then click on the green plus button to locate the file. Please keep images sizes small as we have limited storage space. Interested in seeing what barrel you have and the markings.

Hi Larry, thanks for posting the images. The Browning Hi Power barrel does appear to have all the correct marks, and the PY dates it to 1982. I would guess the original FEG barrel was damaged and replaced with an available FN/Browning barrel.
Interesting on the high serial number, so I would assume (dangerous to do with FEGs) it is sometime post 1986 per Laszlo's charts. As you note, it has all of the characteristics of the version 3 FP9. Hopefully Laszlo will stop by shortly and pass along his thoughts and comments on the late serial number and on anything else he might note from the images.
Nice FEG, and glad to hear it shoots well, as many FEGs do. I have some with really great triggers, and others, well not so much.

Thanks for getting back to me, I have left all the trigger nice and left all the disconnector mechicnism inside of it and there must be two holes in the tube that retains the shoe and now the shoe clear the magazine by about a millimeter. I have been looking on the internet for years and have never found any information and this forum is very good and being in Australia I have never seen another Feg even tho I’m sure they will be around, but in the all years I’ve been looking I’ve never seen one without import marks on them. Is that unusual? It’s not as pretty as most but to me it is as it has character. It’s great to find somewhere there is good information available and I am very glad I stumbled upon this. Thank you to everyone for putting time and information out there. Did you notice the number 4 up inside the top of the slide on the front. Do you know what that means?
Thanks Lyall Fisher

Lyall, not sure of the number 4 on the underside of the slide by the locking lugs. I checked a few of mine, none have the 4, one has a V the other a 6 (or perhaps 9) another had no mark. The 6 is on a slide from a Variant 3 FP9 imported by Kassnar to the US (serial #F16851, according to Laszlo's chart, 1983 production). Perhaps it is a stocking number or bin number, to pull from for production where certain slides are perhaps marked #4 while other marks might be 6 (guessing) based upon US export or various roll marks/importers, frames another number or letter, hammers, triggers etc.

ToddSigThank you for your reply, hoping someone will come along with extra knowledge and an idea as to what the numbers mean. Thank you Lyall

So basically one pistols part must have the same number stamp.

Wonderful research Laszlo (Beczl), and finally proof that settles the old arguments about the "clone wars" especially the arguments about the real Browning Hi Powers made in Hungary under license of FN by FEG.
The cold war era was an interesting time. When things were more grey than black and white.
Good research. I'm very happy with my Hungarian made Browning Hi Power made under license of FN.
