Here are some pix of High Powers. I thought I'd get the ball rolling for picture threads. This is a Sport model which has adjustable sights...I have always preferred fixed sights on a HP but I keep walking up on adjustable sight models at good prices. Next is a FM Detective slide kit on an FN HP. Here is a fixed sight HP with round hammer... This is an older HP with internal extractor as well as well as round hammer. It was bought from FN by the newly established Austrian State (Land) police forces which were established by the various Austrian states leading up to the end of Allied occupation in 1955. Finally, for your viewing pleasure is a alloy frame HP that has been Cera-Coated locally7... it has a tang hammer. More later on. CHuck

Currently this is my only Browning Hi Power, a 1979 Sport Model I bought in '09 in unfired condition. Since I may use it for carry I removed the magazine disconnector, added the Hogue wood grips, and replaced the factory "ittybitty" safety with the Browning ambi unit. It shoots like a Browning Hi Power is supposed to shoot - really well. And I carried service pistols with adjustable sights for many years, so I really don't mind the beercan rear sight. JayPee

My latest project is this nice old 69C. I thought about leaving it as I received it, for about 15 minutes. Novak did sights and stippling, Don Williams did a short reset after I completed remainder of work. HC frame by Bob Cogan.

I like that, huntershooter. Mine is off having a similar Cerakote job done. Should have it back sometime this coming week. Really anxious. Seeing your is making me even more eager to get it back. I'd love to have my front and backstrap stipple or checkered, but I'm a real cheapskate. I just use the rubber faux stipple. Has always worked great for me.

And now for something completely different: You have seen some pretty pistols, hope you don't mind my working guns. Top is my Israeli surplus FN with SFS. It now wears Uncle Mike's Spegel grips. Bottom is my FEG, it now wears the VZ grips seen in the first pic, and will soon also have SFS. The FN also wears XS Big Dot tritium sights.

Here are some more samples, starting upper left and going down, then back to upper right and going down. 1. The one that started it all, a 1980 beautiful nickel that my wife gave me new. I have improved the rear sight and done a bit of a trigger job. 2. A well customized 9mm FN SFS. The original owner was in FN management in South Carolina who did some of the work himself and knew where to send it off for other work. 3. An FN 40 cal, worked on by Don Williams and bought from a fellow Hi Power enthusiast who I hope becomes a member here. 4. Another 40 cal Hi Power with Don Williams custom touches and also equipped with a 357 Sig barrel. 5. An alloy 9mm again worked on by Don Williams. 6. A FEG, just for JayPee!!

Picked up my Browning Hi-Power from the Cerakote finisher today. So here ya go................ It's a Belgium Hi-Power assembled in Portugal. Made in 1988 and purchased new by me. Probably my favorite handgun of all time. Back when it had a Parkerized finish, I carried it daily in a fanny pack. (ugh) Then, back in '99, I bought a Glock 27 and carry that daily now. Poor ol' HP has been in the bedside stand since 1999. Decided recently I wanted it as my daily carry, so fixed it up and have ordered a nice pancake holster for it. Unfortunately the holster won't be here until mid-July. But long-story-short, here's my "new" old Browning Hi-Power in all its glory. God I love this pistol.

Ewwwww...........I like those, but especially curious about the longer barreled one. I've never seen a Hi-Power with a barrel that long.

Chris, the long barreled one is the GP Comp with 5.9" barrel and barrel weight. So far as I know they were never catalogued in the U.S. They have a few other features which aid in making the GP a very accurate 9MM.
