Hello, thanks for accepting me in the forum. I live in Panama and have owned a BHP for the last two years, it is my first gun and when I purchased it there was a gun imports prohibition in my country, so people who wanted to lawfully own a gun was forced to buy it used from a previous owner, what I really wanted was a more modern gun, but had to settle for my now loved BHP. I enjoy the history my gun brings to every gun talk, and how people who are enthusiasts for moder known brands admire the feel, perfection and performance of my pistol. What finally brought me to the forum was my inability to trace back the enigmatic serial number in it, a plain "0886", can anyone shed a light on this?
Welcome to the forum!
High Power serial numbers often do not reveal much about the pistol.
If you are able to upload good photos of both sides of your High Power, plus detailed photos of any interesting marks and stamps, I am near certain someone here will be able to give you some information.
You made an excellent choice for you first pistol, even if it was your only choice!
Cheers,
Tim

Hello from Montana! I'm "ApplePi" on the computer, but my real name is Eric. I have a shooting range at home and I reload my own ammo. I have an old FN High Power that I bought from my dad a long time ago. He sold me 9mm from the same era and I've never shot modern ammo through it. Hope to find out more about it here.

My Hi Power is a sentimental one. I was with my father when he bought it in 1984 and it was his 1st ever brand new gun he ever bought and since then it’s probably only had a couple boxes of ammo through it. I am a retired Sergeant First Class with 21 years served with about 4 1/2 of those in southwest Asia both Afghanistan and Iraq. I like to carry my Hi Power when wandering the woods and it just feels right and shoots right where I want her to!

Old HPs handle modern ammo just fine, all you need to remember is to not shoot +P or +P+ ammo in the gun. It unlikely blow the gun up with it will greatly accelerate wear and tear on the gun. Welcome to the forum, I hope you join and have fun here. FWIW Chuck Hello from Montana! I'm "ApplePi" on the computer, but my real name is Eric. I arrived at the forum looking for info on these guns.
As English is not my native language, I apologize for any mistakes I can make in my messages.
Regards.

Good morning. I picked up a couple of Hi-Powers recently,a Girsan MC P-35, and an FEG, so I thought I'd drop in here and see if I can't learn something. I'll try to stay in the background and not make a mess. Thanks for having me.
I'm an old man who doesn't shoot as much as he'd like to, heck I was never any good at it anyway, but I still enjoy talking about it. I grew up in Central Virginia. and have lived here all my life. I'm retired from DuPont where I made Kevlar for 37 years.
Oh...I'm not a "Cajun." Many years ago, when I was chasing "little green fish" as a wannabe tournament bass fisherman, I had a Cajun (brand) bass boat. When I needed a screen name, I glanced out the window and saw my boat. CajunBassBoat was too long, so CajunBass was born. Would have been a great SASS name I think. When I moved from the Cajun, to a Javelin, I was too lazy to change my name.
Just call me CB.

Welcome to HPC CB. Good to have another fellow Virginian on the site. I am in Alexandria. Nice pick up on the Girsan. You will find plenty of information on the site regarding FEGs. Don't worry about staying in the background, just jump right in on any of the threads and conversations. We have a great and friendly group of Hi Power enthusiasts and encourage participation by all. Hello Everyone,
My name Is Ryan and I just recently joined. I'd like to say thank you to everyone who contributes their knowledge and experiences with all of us as it is extremely helpful to lots of people. I recently posted about acquiring a Browning Hi Power of my own which I believe to be circa 1940s. Am I able upload pictures on my posts to this sight? I have some that probably would have helped get my information across a bit better, oh well can supply them if needed. Thanks again everyone and I look forward to reading all of your comments and answering any questions I can.

Hello,
As a new member introduction, my screen name is Gregg but my full name is Gregg Hanan. Resident of the Houston area who has been collecting firearms of interest (at least to me).The High Power Collectors forum looked like an informative location to track down some input on High Powers for myself and the grandsons. Their interest in old firearms keeps us entertained anytime the safe is opened to explore. Looking forward to inquiring about my last HP purchase
Merry Christmas, Gregg
