Welcome to our group. I think you will find a lot of friendly people who are anxious to help each other and exchange information. Please join in the fun... Chuck Hi everyone...I'm new to the board. My board name is just my initials. I live about 45 miles north of Atlanta straight up 400. I'm a systems administrator and manage system administrators. I'm sort of a Jack of all trades with hobbies and chores. I'm lucky enough to have land and my own pistol and rifle ranges. Pre computer systems life I was a member of the 82nd Airborne and crew chief on Cobra Attack helicopters with a speciality in fire control repair (the weapons systems). On the firearm side I'd say I'm a late bloomer and didn't have the disposable income to buy much while we raised 3 children. BUT....I'm trying to make up for that. I recently picked up one of my bucket list items and that was my 1974 C Hi Power. I have probably the regular stuff in the safe that most people have.....old and new....M1 Carbine, Garand, AR's, 1911's, P92's...etc.

Hi everyone. I’m new here from Michigan. Bought my first pistol when I turned 21 back in 1989 in California, a BHP, naturally. I still have it and she’s still one of my favorites. I have added a few since but looking at an Inglis and need some expert help IDing the serial on the barrel.

Hello Fellow Hi-Power lovers! I have been building and working on 1911's and other weapons my whole adult life. In real life I am a Medical provider, Hence the handle. over the past couple of years as we saw a shift in the culture of our country, I drifted into P-35's. Thus far, I have rebuilt several including doing trigger jobs and other custom work on mine. My current CCW EDC is a FEG framed, BHP slide MK2 with Straight 8 Sights, Midnight Blue Ceracoat, an advanced trigger, and C&S combat safety. (Truly a FrankenGun) I just cannot get into the Plastic Guns as I was raised with 1911's and the Hi-Power with it's cocked and locked Single action makes me feel at home. I hope that some of my 1911 and limited Hi-power experience will enrich those as much as your experience will enhance my understanding of the platform.

Hi, Yes. Lets see if this picture comes through, She started as a FEG frame, BHP mk2 slide, C&S hammer and Sear, Heinie straight 8 sights, Browning Barrel, American Holly Texas grips (Looks like Ivory), C&S combat extended safety, Midnight Blue Ceracoat, with an BHSS advanced trigger and springs. I worked the hammer and Sear with my Powers custom jig with 1500 grit stone and then flitz polish to set the trigger to 4 lbs 3.9 oz with no creep and no hammer follow. The Main spring is a 30 lbs spring with a standard 17 lbs recoil spring, and a BHSS sear spring. The Holster is a Custom leather IWB by HBE leather, with Kydex clips (my mod) that allows me to carry in the office (and everywhere else) without anyone knowing. My EDC Ammo is 124gr. Speer GDHP standard pressure ammo (16 rounds) She is nothing valuable, and started life as parts and ended up as a FrankenGun...But she shoots better than I can hold her.

Hello everyone, Thank you for allowing me to join the group! My name is Mike, I purchased my pistol about 5 years ago.I bought it from a local gun shop which has now moved on, the pistol sat in the gun case for over a year, people would come in and look at it,that’s all. Then one day the owner said to me, I’ll work a deal with you on that pistol. The offer was decent, so I bought it. I just replaced the the springs in it since I was having a failure to eject or stove pipe or both. I’m trying to figure out how to post a pic of it.

Welcome to HPC forum niener82. Glad you got a good deal on your Hi Power, probably worth much more now than when your purchesed it 5 years ago. Yes, we definitely need some images. In your create a post window, top right corner, across from the Subject is Add Attachment. Click on that and upload the images, up to three, and the images cant be larger than 1 mb, so you might have to reduce the image size before uploading.

I bought the replacement parts from Numich and one of the parts was a barrel but it was a bit shorter. I sent the barrel back asked for a different one part number was the same just a different letter at the end of the part number and I was told it was the same part what?

Welcome!
What parts did you purchase and replace?
Except for a replacement gold plated trigger and a set of black plastic checkered grips, I have never been satisfied with parts from Numrich, or Sarco for that matter. If you can, you are better off getting springs, pins and other replacement parts from BHSS, Cylinder & Slide, maybe Midwest Gun Works... unless you are looking for some antique part that is difficult to find.
Thinking I was saving some cash a few years ago, I bought replacement pins (mag disconnect/trigger spring pins) and old style Internal Extractors from Numrich, and a couple more Internal Extractors from Sarco. The pins were rusty from improper storage and my original Internal Extractors were in far better shape than the replacements which were advertised as new. While they look like a good resource, those "old parts" places don't really seem to know anything about the guns they are selling old parts for.
Looking forward to more pictures, including that short barrel next to your original one!
Cheers,
Tim

Numrich deals in lots and lots of used parts. As a result parts from different sources get mixed under the same part number. The letter after the serial number suggests you got a FEG barrel rather than an FN barrel... I suspect Numrich got a pile of surplus HP parts from the Izzys when the IDF started phasing out the HP. SARCO and Numrich are the same company from what I understand... They have a huge pile of used stuff... but descriptions are often a hit and miss affair. I was able to get a take down lug for a 1910/22 I bought a while back... it only took a tiny bit of time with a stone to make it fit... I was lucky. FWIW Chuck I bought the replacement parts from Numich and one of the parts was a barrel but it was a bit shorter. I sent the barrel back asked for a different one part number was the same just a different letter at the end of the part number and I was told it was the same part what?

I'd guess the barrel lugs needed some fitting... If you have the tools it is pretty easy to do, though it can take some time to get it just right. FWIW Chuck Welcome! Hello, thanks for accepting me in the forum. I live in Panama and have owned a BHP for the last two years, it is my first gun and when I purchased it there was a gun imports prohibition in my country, so people who wanted to lawfully own a gun was forced to buy it used from a previous owner, what I really wanted was a more modern gun, but had to settle for my now loved BHP. I enjoy the history my gun brings to every gun talk, and how people who are enthusiasts for moder known brands admire the feel, perfection and performance of my pistol. What finally brought me to the forum was my inability to trace back the enigmatic serial number in it, a plain "0886", can anyone shed a light on this?
