Hello Howard,
What a fun, educational and excellent video! I really enjoyed watching it and it was enjoyable to see you shooting the M-27. Great work!

What a great video... It's hard not to love a 'N' frame S&W, particularly the ones made before the Hillary hole was introduced... I really enjoyed it.
Of course as you noted the M28 was the economy version of the M27. The M28 was offered in only two barrel lengths (though S&W did make a few 5" for the Florida Highway Patrol) 4" and 6" (I would have say however I would have preferred a 3.5" because of it's balance.)
In common with all the big S&W N frame revolvers it was known for it's accuracy.
If my memory serves me back in 1969 you could buy one at retail for $87 and some change.
To my way of thinking the M28 (and M27) only really had one negative aspect... and that was it's short cylinder. It handled factory ammo just fine... but if you loaded long bullets such as Keith's big semi wad cutter the resulting cartridge would be too long for the cylinder... though that could be solved by seating the bullet so the case crimped over the front band of the bullet. Curiously, S&W never fixed this problem... there was clearly more than enough room to do so in the big N frame... maybe not so many hand loaders were using Keith bullets. When S&W came out with the K frame 357 in the form of the Combat Magnum (M19) they fixed the problem.
Again, thanks for the video... it is certainly a good one and I really enjoyed it.

Thanks fellas! Interestingly, I saw a couple nice 28’s at a gun show last Saturday, they are now bringing about 10 times that 1969 price! I also saw a nice, new production, 5” model 27. I really wanted that one, but there are 900 really good reasons why it didn’t join my collection!

A very nice video....thanx. Who doesn't like S&W revolvers??? The N frames really tamed the 357Mag cartridge well, compared to the K frame.

Who doesn't like S&W revolvers??? Apparently, Youtube doesn't. They've restricted my video as "Unsuitable for most advertisers." Man that aggravates me! Howard

Great video Howard!
There is a very nice M27 at my local range/shop. They want a lot, but not outrageous. This is making me want to go take a second look.

Another great video from Howard. The explanation, explications and context really make a Funk video. Like Doc (see above), I was interested to see how manageable the .357 recoil was in Howard's hands. I'm nobody's idea of a revolver guy, but that Highway Patrolman looked well-built and nicely finished to me. Except for that weird cylinder. Thanks, Howard.

It is hard not to like a N frame S&W...
The plastic gun loving kids of today don't know what they are missing.

Approx. one week after seeing this video, I was at my LGS and they had a very nice Highway Patrolman S&W with a 6in. bbl. for sale. I believe they were asking $650. That is the first one that I have seen locally for sale in quite some time.
