Very nice refresh, Mr. BHP. Very ship-shape.

I like the way you've cleaned that one up, SeƱor Burgs. The original adjustable rear sight looks like a tiny aircraft carrier. I expect the Novaks are easier to live with. What's all that hardware on the port side of the gun? Did you get a discount on FEG parts again?

You can take them out and put them in without having to retract the slide. I like them because being a lefty, I can more easily manipulate the slide release with my trigger finger. Quick like a bunny.

A very nice looking LW HP. Many of the LW that I have seen have been the "run hard and put away wet" variety. A few get a glamour makeover, but a lot don't. Glad to see one that is most handsome!!

Very nice old gun... an awful lot of the German HPs are in poor shape... good to see one that looks nice.
There is a body of thought the old guns should not be shot, but assuming they are in good condition, I see no reason not to shoot them and I do... HOWEVER, I do not use +P ammo, surplus ammo of unknown origin etc. The old guns are fun to shoot to me at least...
Good catch

Don Williams did the Heinie sights for another owner. I had George Carell (AKA Old George) do the SFS and C&S wide trigger. When I first got it the elevation was off for me, and I wanted a tritium front sight anyway. I never could see black on black sights worth a hoot. So I called Novak and they worked with me to get a white outline tritium front sight that shot dead on. After that I enhanced the front sight with some orange over a white base coat for extra visibility. The rear notch I underlined with a luminous NiteSiter bar to help me find that. It shoots really straight and for some reason feels a tiny bit lighter and slimmer than my other Browning HP 40s. Everybody should have at least one practical.

Being weekend I have been putzing around with some photos... so I thought I'd share a few... This is a group photo of some of the Browning family: Made about 1937 this is a fairly early HP... not in perfect shape by any means, it is still interesting to me anyway... Someone modified the grips on the old gun... apparently a long time ago... for what reason I have no idea... I have never seen a similar modification before or since... perhaps for use with the shoulder stock? Next a Inglis HP I acquired in Europe... I'm not really sure of it's history, but it was supposedly used by the British Army of the Rhine in the 1950s... The details of it's discharge from the Brit Army is not clear though the Brits did sell off some of their HPs in the 1960s, but not a lot of them. Finally, another BHP in .30 Luger chambering. This one is a resident of safe #2 and doesn't get shot... I have one in not such good condition for shooting... The smaller bore is interesting from the front Left View That's about it for now... I have some 9mm Steyr cases that want to be reloaded... A good Sunday to you all... V/r Chuck
