I am a sucker for Case CV knives. I was just in Branson last week, and made my obligatory stop into Shepherd Hills Cutlery. Picked up one of these: www.casexx.com/Details/?ProductCode=7014&Patid=53I did the hot vinegar patina treatment to it yesterday. The Sodbuster Jr. is a great all round knife, and the CV ones take and hold a great edge. I think that I have four of them now.

My last trip to Branson last year I purchased one of the Tony Bose designed Swayback Jack CV knives, also with the Chestnut Bone handle. This isn't my picture, but the patina is almost identical to the one on mine: i60.tinypic.com/o9g46h.jpgThis knife has some funky looking baldes, but they are very useful. I also like the fact that this one doesn't have bolsters on both ends.

My "favorite", or at least EDC knife is an old, discontinued Al Mar folder.

I have an old Al Mar folder that was given to me by a dear, dear friend. She is now gone, but when I see the knife, I always think of her. This knife has been in my pocket for the last 30+ years, and could not be bought!!

I am very fond of knives, & am never without one. I have a small collection of German paratroop gravity knives. Also 3 very nice European spring switchblades. I recently picked up some beautifully made spring assist Stainless stilettos that were made in China & very inexpensive. My everyday carry knife is a swiss Vitorinox Adventurer featuring a 4" one hand open blade, + several essential tools, & black grips.
I'll try to get & post photos eventually.

I'm not much of a knife person... to me they are tools. Though I have a few 'nice' knives, the one that is with me every day is the Vitorinox Swiss Army Knife... Yes, I know... 'That's not a knife..." But it is a very useful tool to have on hand... I use it a lot and even though it is quite small (Spartan model) it has a fair amount of 'stuff' on it, which makes it quite handy to have with me. The steel in the Swiss Army Knife is of good quality and will hold a really good edge which seems a plus to me... FWIW CHuck

Now you remind me of Bryan Adams' song "Cuts Like A Knife"... mine here....top is my grandfather's fan knife ("balisong"...origin from Batangas province), middle is my Swiss Champ (31-parts) with the still intact Survival Kit-SOS Set (12-piece including the leaflet) which I bought in Singapore about 19 yrs ago, and below is my Eagle 3.5 inch bolt lock knife. Chuck, oh yes, Swiss Army knife is a knife....as Doug Marcaida (Forged in Fire fame) is saying "This Sir can cut....This Sir can kill"

Hello pjk9hp, Man! Those are some nice knives! I started buying Swiss knifes when I actually visited Switzerland in 2006/2008. I bought them to take hiking with me in the Bernese Alps. (You got to have something to slice that nice sausage, cheese and fresh bread with while hiking!). I still own a couple. Some I have given to my children and friends. My latest is the Buck 110 folding hunter that I bought on sale from Bass Pro Shops over Father's Day. They are great knives and it accompanies the Buck 112 that I already own. My daily carry knife is a Kershaw R.J. Martin assisted open folder. In the words of my departed Father, "A gentleman always carries a knife"..... Best, Chris

Some nice knives on here. Nothing too spectacular at home, these are my favorites:
Got the one on the right when I got my Eagle, it has clearly been around the block a time or two.
Got the one on the left at three years of being a leader in Scouts for my older boy.
Certainly not specialized or tactical in any way, but both easy to use and practical day to day.

@ pjk9hp : I've got a couple of stilettos that I bought in Italy during the '70s. But I think of them more as letter openers than knives.

Like many of ya'll I've carried/used many of the high end HSLD folders for the usual double super secret ninja strap cutting, target trimming, ammo case opening, paracord parting and lunch slicing duties . Thought about silent sentry removal once, but then I realized...though he was sporting a Keffiyeh and AK, he was OUR sentry . A good guy..........today..........maybe .
About 15 years ago, I searched for a less expensive alternative...based upon the assumption it would eventually end-up in the pocket of some customs dude in another third world sxxxhole . The more I carried/used it every day, the more I liked it so I bought a second and put it in the safe as the eventual replacement. I even lucked into another one at a local gun show that was seriously mismarked $$ wise. Well, 15 years...and untold TSA, Customs, Military and شرطة inspections, later...to say nothing of baggage thieves handlers, the same knife it still clipped in my pocket. I might drop one of my Chris Reeve Sebenzas...likely the small one, in a pocket for a special occasion , but my original Kershaw Blur is my EDC knife.....
Mine has just a tad more character though .....
Oh, Chris Reeve Sebenza...at about 8X the $$, for special occasions ... I started carrying the Kershaw Blur about 15 years ago, too. I carried it everyday in my right pocket on a six-month deployment to Kuwait (along with a number of other blades). As time takes its toll, I found the thumb stud on the Blur to be a bit hard to operate in a hurry. A couple of years ago, I switched to a Kershaw Knockout. kershaw.kaiusaltd.com/knives/knife/knockoutThe blade shape is not quite as good for my purposes as the Blur, but it has good heft and -- deploys with a a flipper. Keep it in my pocket for social purposes and use it for virtually nothing. It stays shaving sharp.

EDC in the pocket, a mini griptilian. In the truck and in the woods, a Randall Model 14 that I got while in the Navy, 1979. It and a favorite Hi Power 40 cal (and maybe one 1911) are what I wish I could take with me when .....
