How do you lubricate your HP? Oil? Gun Grease? Motor oil? Bear grease?
Most agree lubrication is important... but just what is the best (and most reliable) way to lubricate your HP?
For me the answer is grease. I've used various greases... British Army Ordnance Grease, Lucas sticky red grease in tubes, Wilson white grease, and us GI grease... To me the big thing is the grease stays on moving parts and protects against friction... I even use it on GLocks!!
High Powers I have greased don't show wear after quite a bit of use.
What lubrication do you use?

Hello Sir,
I pretty much use Wilson's Ultimate Lube on all of auto-slide pistols. The lubricant just seems to penetrate the pores of the metal and give "smooth as glass" performance. I really need to order some more soon. I have used them on BHP's for years.

I have used a number of things over the years, as I am sure most of us have. For the last few years, I have stuck with TW25b for the parts that slide/rub, and a good gun oil in a needle oiler for the parts that are harder to reach. This combo seems to get the job done for me.

I used Mobil 1 for many years in different viscosities, (depending on which one my car called for at that time.) Usually it was 0W20, but I've used weights as heavy as 15W50. The thing I love about synthetic motor oil is that when used liberally it keeps carbon in suspension and allows for a quick cleaning merely by wiping out the oil. But for the past three years I've used a new Lucas product called Extreme Duty Gun Oil on all sliding parts and it is an excellent lubricant. It's fairly heavy and was designed not to burn off when used in machine guns. I still use 0W20 in the small parts though, and I wouldn't hesitate to use Mobil 1 in any firearm I own.

Yes, that's it, Chuck. We've tested it in a number of firearms at temps from 10 below to 100 degrees and it performs extremely well. I've used it exclusively in my AR's and auto pistols for three years and am more than pleased with it. If you buy any, get it from Spike's Tactical under their label - it's half the price Lucas wants for it.

It tends to stay where you put it- and as Jay Pee said, it makes clean up pretty easy.
Added bonus, a quart will last the remainder of my life.

Another vote for Mobil 1 5w30. I also use it for the innards on fine Smith and Wesson revolvers.  |

This allowed me to give some to my friends... worked out really well... converted quite a number of people. V/r Chuck Yes, that's it, Chuck. On my AR's I place a small bottle of it in a small nylon knife scabbard and attach it to the sling where it doesn't interfere with anything. Like this:  |

Put my Hi-Power back together today after having it Cerakoted. Noticed while at the gunsmith's shop that they sold Lucas' Extreme Duty Gun Oil. It was $6 for 4 oz. Figured by the time I ordered it on-line I'd pay as much for shipping as for the bottle of "slickem". Put my Hi-Power back together and lubed it with the Lucas oil as I went and am very impressed. Will only know for sure after shooting it for a while, but thanks for the heads-up. Always nice to find a new and useful product.
