Any Charles Daly clone experts out there? If so, I have a mystery on my hands.
Ive seen a lot of Daly clones but none like this, as the slide markings, sights, and serial number prefix's dont match up to whats out there. Typically, they had "HP" or "HPM" prefix's, and were assembled by Dan Wesson or Magnum Research from FEG parts. Mine has a "V" prefix. Who assembled this? Its all original (except for Navidrex grips), and was NIB (unmarked) when I purchased it about 10 - 12 years ago. FWIW , its a great shooter and eats anything I feed it. Ideas anyone? Hope my pics come thru....

shutterdial , welcome to HPC. That is a real interesting Charles Daly HP. A couple of things stand out, first the V prefix in the serial number, that is probably an FEG serial number as V was a prefix used for their various pistols and clones. Also, no XS sights, no made in US marked on the frame, logo is also different. Really cool example. I am wondering if it was a prototype by FEG which either KBI/Charles Daly later sold. Would like to see more images, any marks, and also, is the box black textured plastic, tight closing clips, and Charles Daly in a smooth center panel of the top of the box. So again, I am thinking prototype or early sample made and assembled by FEG for KBI/Charles Daly to review and consider. Image of the Made in USA on one of my Charles Daly HPs.

Also interesting is the 'K' stamp on fron part of trigger guard and a similar 'K' (sideways) stamped on the frame right next to the last digit of the serial number... Does this reinforce the thought that it was for KBI...?

Thanks all for the replies and helpful info! Regarding the original box, it was a generic carboard box with white outer sleeve. It appeared to be made to fit the HP, but there was no paperwork or markings whatsoever. It had been opened prior to my purchase (from a private seller) but appeared to be the original box. As has been noted, the "K" stamp very well may indicate KBI - as well as the Harrisburg stamp?
Ill probably never know the full history of this piece, but as its a good shooter and well made I intend to keep it.
I was going to add an extended C&S safety as (like others) it has a mushy non distinct feel to it, but maybe I just let it be - especially since its a range gun for me and not a carry piece.
Thanks all !

Given it is rather unique and until you can discover more about it I would leave it stock. Or if you do change out the safety, make sure you keep the original parts. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the input and advice - FWIW, on a lark, I emailed the (new) Charles Daly company and asked if they could help me find out anything about this items history. I wasnt expecting to hear back but they did respond, and said they would try to research it for me. Will update this post if they find anything.
