Hello all, Was just hoping to gleam some information. My grandfather passed away and left my dad and I his Hi Power. I never asked while he was alive, but I believe he had this for a long time. He was a police officer and used this as his off duty gun. From my research I know serial numbers don't help much with all of the different contracts. I'm guessing this is a post WWII but pre-1954 model. Any idea? I'm also guessing this was refinished since I've never seen a stainless Hi Power. Thanks for any help you can give! PICTURES HERE

Internal extractor, but no "Thumbprint". I'm thinking early-mid 1960s. Probably a great shooter...perfect to honor your GF a few times a year. BHPs are meant to be shot, not coddled. Enjoy.

The "*M" is a mark used by inspector (Controller of Proof) Scorpion Maurice from 1959 to 1968 or Couchant Louis from 1923 to 1952. The "0" (with a line on the left and below) on the left trigger guard may indicate a proof date in mid (second quarter) 1960. I have a blued 1960 model with similar markings and serial number 28915. The date code (left trigger guard) is the same, yet mine has the 'thumb print'. FN used all parts... if the thumbprint was on the way out in 1960, it may not be unusual at all to have a gun with either slide be assembled and approved even on the same day. Also, FN routinely reused serial numbers for different contracts. The serial number on pre T series pistols is not a reliable check for mfg year... except for those produced under German occupation. I replaced all the springs and pins and added an SFS kit. She is a great shooter, even with the old style sights. Fit her with some new springs and enjoy shooting a great pistol with family history!

The pistol has had a hard chrome “Metaloy” or “Armaloy” finish applied, a bullet proof finish for a working pistol one of my HP’s has this finish. The lack of a thumbprint makes me nuts otherwise I would date it in 1950, I have a pistol with a close S/N and it was purchased by my father in 1951, markings are just the same as yours. Maybe they used a left over Occupation slide?
