I've had an occupation HP on my Want List for a while. A nice, all-matching one came into the shop today and I was in the right place, at the right time. Matching "140" mag also. Serial is 150xxx, so it should be 1942, just at the tangent/fixed sight change. Finish and bore are pretty nice, and no import marks. Only negative is a pair of ugly gold plastic grips. I put a pair of Argy grips on to avoid nausea. Just need to source an appropriate pair. I won't tell you what I paid, but I was ecstatic and the boss made a quick profit. I took some crappy pics, but I'll post some better ones tomorrow. Happy boy!!!

Congrats’. I know the feeling being on the hunt for a particular item... Look forward to the pics.

I'll be interested to see how it shoots.
All the stories about workers sabotage to guns is hard to put your fingers on... mostly I think it is doing things to make the guns unreliable, inaccurate and that sort of thing. It would be extremely difficult to do damage enough to make the guns unsafe without being detected.
Please share how yours shoots.
Thanks
Chuck

The matching mag took 14 rounds comfortably and I went through about 50 rounds without a problem. Also fed great using a factory 10 rounder. Shot about 1-2 inches high and right for me (a lefty). Trigger was a bit mushy, but it still has the disconnect, which I will keep in this pistol. I believe HP #8 is a winner!

Ok, I just thought a thought. Would this pistol have originally come with wood or Bakelite grips??? Glad I thought of it before I spent the money!

Another source told me they would be wood grips. I think those should be easier to find.

Yep, the wood grips are the correct type...
The SS got the majority of the HPs made for the Germans and I think the Navy and Luftwaffe got some too... I assume the Army got some too, but I have never seen any photo evidence of that...
FWIW

I wish it, and all my other milsurp guns, could talk.
