I received my BHP Alloy Frame from Classic Firearms and interestingly, the serial number starts with 215RNxxxx (1979) not the standard 245. Does anyone know the reason for the deviation from the standard?

Hello,
The 215 Prefix means Military.

They are reported to be Belgian police guns... mine has an inventory number in addition to the serial number. It is possible the guns were procured by the military given that (like France) the police are under the military ultimately... or at least were when I was in Europe. FWIW Chuck Hello, The 215 Prefix means Military.

The alloy frame high power I have has a 245PT56424 serial on the grip but on the frame slide and barrel it has a different serial number which is GV B424 86. The 424 is the last three digits of the grip serial. Could this one be on of the Belgian police guns too.

The number on the front grip (245PT56424) is the serial number. The GVB sequence is the inventory number for whatever agency bought them and put them into service.
My inventory code is GV B778 84 and does not contain any number sequence from the FN serial number.
On mine, both the serial number and the inventory number are on the frame, slide and barrel: Frame: sn on front grip strap - inv # on right side near front Slide: sn is below ejection port - inv # is forward of sn and higher Barrel: sn shows thru ejection prt - inv # same location but on the hidden side (left) of barrel
Mine is a 245PZ and has a mfg date of 1981 with an inventory code ending in 84 (1984). Yours has a mfg date of 1986 (PT) with an inventory code ending in 86 (1986).
I'd love to know where and by whom mine was used!

I think I would like to get one of these also. If they get some more in! It never hurts to lose some weight in a carry gun. The progression I went on in 1911's is probably like a lot of guys. I have the Gov't model, the 4" Kimber, and the S&W 3" from a semi custom deal S&W did a while back. I still carry the 3" most days and the 4" sometimes. The lightweight Hi-Power looks and sounds good to me. Thanks for the info. Be Well. Bandito
