Hi all! I promised this video a couple of weeks ago, and now here it is! This is the video review and range test of my Pietta 5.5" "Sheriff's Model". Be sure to let me know what you think of this nifty little C&B revolver after you watch the video!

A very nice, and fun video. I take my hat off to you fellas that shoot black powder weapons. As I stated in another thread, I gave it a try in my 1851 Colt Navy clone back in the late 1960s-early 1970s. It just wasn't my thing, but I am impressed with the quality of some of these modern black powder clones. Yours looks quite nice, and you were shooting "it's eyes out"!! Hard to complain with those results.

Hard to complain with those results. Thank you! There is just something about black powder firearms that has always appealed to me. I certainly enjoy shooting up-to-the-minute modern firearms too, but there is always a Siren's song call from my BP rifles and revolvers. Maybe its has something to do with watching Fess Parker back in the day (as either Daniel Boone, or Davy Crocket depending upon precisely what I was watching at the time). Whatever the case, I find it to be a very relaxing kind of shooting. You absolutely CAN'T get in a hurry. You've got to take your time, load your firearm properly, and then employ some good old fashioned marksmanship to hit your target. When you do it all right, and make a good shot, there is a great sense of accomplishment. I think too, and I've mentioned this before, It feels a little like traveling back in time and shooting with one of your ancestors. It almost seems like you can feel their ghosts looking on to make sure the "yunguns" are still preserving the old ways and getting it right (How's that for a Halloween metaphor!) Howard

When I was a 9 year old kid I got to shoot an original 1851 Colt revolver. It came out of the attic of a relative. It was in .36 caliber and had a sailing ship motif on the cylinder.

That's would be a cool experience for me at 52 years old. It must have been quite exciting for a 9 year old!

HR yes it was , I still remember it as if it was yesterday and I'm 64 now. I forgot to mention the original owners initials were carved into the brass strap of the grip.
