Here's my second outing with the R51. I'm taking on this pistol as a bit of a project to see if I can make it run reliably. If any of you have suggestions for me to try, feel free to let me know!

That is really an excellent review Howard... I have to say I'm sorry Remington worked so hard to fix the R51 problems only to be thwarted (apparently) by the magazine maker... Remington but a lot of money and effort into fixing the R51... to let a magazine company ruin that effort is sad.
More and more new guns seem to be having mag problems of late... I have had problems with the then new glock 43 (along with other problems) the S&W 45 Shield, the FN 509 mags (VERY hard to load) and the SIG 3320 (also hard to load.)
This is all very frustrating... there is no reason for these magazine problems... there are companies who make good quality magazines (MecGar for example) at reasonable prices... just makes no sense for a maker to work hard to make a top quality gun and then mess up the performance with bad magazines...

Hello Howard, Another great video! I concur with Chuck on the magazine issue. As you mentioned, the R-51 seems to do what its supposed to do, but is being retarded in function due to the magazine issues that you excellently pointed out. Best of luck with Remington and I am looking forward to hopefully a better outcome in "part 3"... Chris

Another informative video. I believe that you are correct in your evaluation that the malfunctioning is mag related. I have to wonder if possibly one could improve the mag functioning via narrowing the feed lips a bit. Granted, this should be something that Remington handles, but I might be tempted to try at least one mag if they were mine. Perhaps the mag lips are just not the correct form/design for this weapon.....so many possibilities here.
Sorry that you are having these malfunctions, but it sounds as though you are not alone in this dilemma. Good luck, and I look forward to the next chapter!!

Altering the feed lips will be a last resort. I’ve got some other things to try first. Still, if it comes to that, I might just give it a try. Howard
