Man, there are a bunch of conservative teachers here at my kids’ schools, really makes me question where the stereotype comes from.

The stereotype comes from all the outrageous ones making the noise & getting more attention. They do exist though, I worked for a college that literally "liberal-ed" itself out of business - making stupid choices. The "progressives" are very active in colleges & universities. So glad I've retired.

After I wrote that I thought about it and realized my kids are probably in the exception, not the rule. Nearly half the kids are from military families, I’ve been very involved with the STEM program, having a lot of DOD support, and having mostly kids with parents in DOD related sci & tech careers. On top of that, my son as ranking Webelos led the morning flag ceremony for most of his fourth grade.
Even if there are ultra lib teachers there, there might be some filtering going on...

Hello,
My son is a school teacher that is probably more conservative than I am and learned to shoot at a very early age. He is very much in favor of arming teachers, but he teaches now in South Korea so its somewhat of a mute point for him. He's trained well and can shoot probably better than I can right now. The old man taught him well!
