Hi- Does anyone have any info on the service history, police and or military, of the FEG HP in it's original configuration as represented by the PJK-9HP civilian variant? Thanks -Joe Not really, Joe. Not with any authority anyway. We know it was indeed used by military forces here and there, and in some real quantity, both as a genuine FEG and as an ersatz FN P-35. We also know FEG provided parts and assemblies of their pistols to other countries. But unfortunately, FEG was a Communist enterprise for most of its modern existence and information from inside the Iron Curtain was not plentiful, especially about matters military. When FEG went under in 2004 its records went with it and most facets of its existence as a pistol maker remain a mystery. We can't even date a FEG product reliably. I'm sorry for such a negative answer, but there's just a heckuvalot about FEG we don't know.

Jaypee,
Regarding serial numbers of FEG Hi Powers, is it believed (I know that with FEGs there are no certaintie.) that the leading alpha character in the serial number are alphabetical as to date of build. What I'm trying to ask is, would it be reasonable to assume that a 'B' serial number would be an earlier example than would, say, a 'G' be?
And thanks for your informative posts, and for your book.

No, tpelle, I don't think I would reach such a conclusion without some documentation. FEG just did too many wierd things that defy understanding. The only FEG's that can be reliably dated are the ones marked "Kassnar Imports." These were made between 1985 and 1987 and Kassnar went out of business before reimportation began in the early 90's and they took up the KBI logo.
