I don't have a lot of military pistols. Aside from the FEGs the only other pistols from that neighborhood I have are some Steyr 1912 pistols... which despite their appearance are quite nice guns and shoot well and reliably. Happily they fit holsters made for the Beretta 9s though a reproduction of the Austro-Hungarian Army holster is available too.. The Steyr M1912 is an interesting pistol and it shares it's loading system with the Mauser Broom handles... In 1938 after the Germans occupied Austria and annexed the Czechs an unknown quantity of 1912s were converted to 9x19 by the Germans and issued to police and second line troops... apparently police in Austria continued to use the existing stocks still chambered for the 9x22.5 (erroneously called a 9x23) as did Austrian Army units integrated into the German Heer. Slightly longer than the 9x19 the 9x22.5 is of similar power to the 9x19 and the same reloading data can be used in 9x22.5 (more often called the 9mm Steyr. Happily brass is available from Star Line at the moment. This pic shows the slide locked back ready to reload... Here is an example from 1916... have to wonder if it could tell stories what it would have to say... Hope ya'll enjoy the old Steyr which is 104 years old this year. V/r Chuck

Very nice Chuck! You're right though, too bad that Styer can't talk. -Vant

I have always thought that this Steyr model was a handsome handgun. I have never owned one, but thanx for showing us yours. So many guns, so little time(and $$).

Always interesting to learn more about pistols from the early days of semi-auto pistol development.

The photos actually show three different guns... One is really nice the other two just nice... I went to the range this morning and was going to shoot one, but forgot the Steyr 1912 I was going to take... but I suppose that's ok too because I also forgot the ammo... V/r Chuck
