This is one of my all-time favorite pistols. As I’m sure you gents know, it is a Hungarian copy of the Browning Hi Power manufactured by FEG, the arms conglomerate of the Hungarian government. More specifically, it is a KBI import called their Model PJK 9HP and it is a completely reverse engineered, totally faithful copy of the pre-Mark II Browning Hi Power design. That means it has the old humped feed ramp and no firing pin safety. It was manufactured back around 1994. I bought it unfired in '09 off of GunBroker and I have to say it took my breath away when I opened the box - The high polished blue job honestly rivals the Colt Python and the Weatherby Mark V rifle. I can only conclude that this gun was probably reserved for a VIP, given the meticulous attention to detail shown by the workmen. Not only are the frame and slide polished to a high sheen, so are the inside of the trigger guard, the slide stop, and the safety lever. But the rear of the slide and frame facing the shooter are polished to a much lower sheen, as they should be. The guy who polished this gun was very good at his trade. The frosting on the cake is that it is tight as a drum in fit, has an excellent trigger, and shoots every bit as well as it looks, routinely producing 15-yard bench rest groups of 1 1/2 - 2 inches. So I really doubt that this was just an ordinary production pistol. I've owned five of these guns and none of them come within a country mile of this one. And all for $315+fees. Until recently I was reluctant to put any real money in it because of the low resale value of these pistols. But I like the gun so well I finally said heck with it and dolled it up by installing Novak three dot sights and Hogue Kingwood checkered grips. I wanted to bring the gun up to the full potential of its looks and shootery, and I think I probably succeeded. JayPee

That is certainly a nice FEG. I have one of about the same vintage which has a similar high polish blue and came with very nice blond wood stocks... It has proved an excellent pistol for a variety of uses...
I bought another FEG a few years later, and was quite disappointed in the gun... it had lots of problems and was not nearly so nicely fitted or finished... it did however have a better thumb safety lever...
Thanks for sharing.

Much nicer than the "finish deficient" FEG that I have. Getting ready to install an SFS system into it.

I had no problem installing one in an FN, and figure that it wouldn't be too difficult in my FEG, especially since I was able to install an FN ambi safety in it without the problems that others have described. Having the BHSS tools along with the proper punches make these jobs easier.
I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I originally purchased an SFS from BHSS just to have on hand when they started carrying them and ran their ridiculously inexpensive intro offer, thinking that I would keep it in reserve. However I enjoy the SFS in the FN so much that I want the FEG to get some of the action as well.

At one point I would love to reach that level on one of my FEG Hi Powers. Can you please tell me more about the sights. Thanks

I sent the slide to Novaks and they machined the correct dovetail slots for them, provided the sights, and installed them. The total cost, including shipping both ways was $200. I've had two of them done that way and it is really a nice installation. Hope this helps. JayPee

It's killing me because $200 is a good deal and I really want these sights installed but I have a hard time justifying the cost. Purchased project FEG Hi Power $300 + refinish $200 + sights $200. Basically I will be $700 into a gun that's worth $500 on a good day. Damn

Well, I did the same thing on this gun. It cost $360, + $200 sights and $100 grips and I have $660 in it. I hesitated a long time and then figured it's for life, so I went ahead and did it. I know how you feel. But that's what happens when we start adding improvements. Sadly.

All of a sudden the "auction meister" who claims to sell the good stuff on gunbroker for seemingly insane prices is not such a bad deal lol :-)

I got my SFS set from BHSS as well... I am having a terrible time getting it in...I must have mis read something, but it has been a bear, so much so I put it aside and walked away for a few weeks so I could think it through. Maybe our local gun fixer can install it... One basic fact of gun life I learned with 1911s (and it applies to HPs too) is you never will get back the money you spend on upgrading a basic gun... If you upgrade because you like it and want to use the gun fine... but the cost of upgrades is gone... Don't ask me how I know... V/r Chuck Yes it helped thank you.
