I just took a gamble, I purchased this scope on Ebay. It was a "buy it now" for $59. It was mis-titled "air rifle scope". I wrote the seller, who was apparently selling an estate, & admitted the instructions for adjusting & using the rangefinder reticle were photocopies for a different looking air rifle scope. This clearly appears to be a military, Illuminated Reticle, metal scope pictured, of better materials, & quality, than the air rifle scopes. I think it may be a 3-9 power scope recognized by the knurled focus ring on the eye piece.
Kalinka Optic Warehouse sells a similar looking, NPZ made scope (in commercial silver hammer finish) with the improved battery cap that converts to AA batteries, for $600. I was watching a NOS Russian scope auction that started at $41. but it was soon way over my budget. Having researched & looked at many photos helped me to recognize the mis-labeled sale. Maybe I got lucky finding one I can afford. I will follow up when it arrives.

Are there any markings on the front of the light switch? Russian scopes have the manufacture's logo and some times more info like the manufacturering company's name and serial number stamped there

Are there any markings on the front of the light switch? Russian scopes have the manufacture's logo and some times more info like the manufacturering company's name and serial number stamped there Hi Mark, No markings anywhere. But I have learned that it is the Chinese NDM - 86 scope, that went with their NDM 86 (Chinese Dragunov) rifle. Even these supposedly had stamped markings & serial #. Maybe this one was sent to the USA for mischief, but was stolen in a bus station = big mystery. I Googled a good article about them, that said they are brighter than the Russian scopes, with better color transmission. The Range Finder reticle lights up like ruby neon. I'm completely happy with it. I didn't think I could afford one at all, but the seller sold it way to cheap. My Christmas miracle.
Just today, I read that the Commercial NDM - 86 scopes had no markings other than English on the adjustment knobs. I also found and ordered a $20. SKS/SVD/DRAGUNOV MOUNTING RAIL (after hours of research) for the Baby 7.62 x 39 Dragunov I'm putting together.

Life surely is a learning experience. After my mounting rail arrived. I realized it would need to be mounted higher on the receiver. I was talked out of doing this, because it would only allow the use of that type scope, & advised it would milk the value of my rifle. So I got the correct factory type of mount, that would conform to, & use one of the rivets in the receiver. I now have the right size side mount scope frame from Belarus, that allows use of iron sights as well as the scope. I've sold my Dragunov scope & mount, & using a Kassnar (KBI)import scope from the 70's with daylight activated red lit reticle. Seems to be just right on a FEG rifle. I'll post pix here when all together.

Everything seems to take longer than planned & does not always achieve desired results. After a couple of months wait, my EX gun smith handed me back my rifle with the scope mount visibly crooked on my receiver. I had taken it to him so nothing like that could happen. I also paid up front. Big setback. after being depressed about it for a while - I figured out how to fix it, & did. I'm better than I thought I was, & should have done it myself in the first place. So now its on right, tight, & factory looking.
SCOPES: There is a lot to know about them, that is hard to research for the basically uninformed. My above bargain scope was for an SVD, which has a receiver of different dimensions than an AK & was WRONG for AK receivers & 7.62x39 ammo. I purchased the correct scope to fit AK receiver mount, A new "BELOMO 4x24B" with 7.62x39 Simonov 400 meter reticle - this is correct for an AK's capabilities & fits well. I also picked up a small 2x20 scope on a proper side mount for shorter distances. It seems I am finally weaving closer towards my goal. More later.
