Hello,
In the beginning, The Hi-Power barrels received a Humped (or Curved) Feed Ramp for a reason that we can only speculate on, but, we can be sure that it wasn't because it was cheaper or easier to produce than straight feed ramps are.
The BHP is such a reliable design to begin with that it tolerates a much wider set of parameters than other designs do and, considering that The BHP has outstanding reliability with either ramp design. The question concerning why did The BHP initially receive the more expensive, harder to produce, humped feed ramp is an interesting one and, it makes for some good conversation...
Now, keep-n-mind that not all of the Classic Hi-Power's with humped feed ramps are unreliable with hollow point ammunition, and if I had one that was, I would rather just buy a current production barrel for it instead of altering it's original barrel.

Here's Schuemann Barrels reason for a Curved Feed Ramp. Note: The Curved Feed Ramp paragraph is towards the bottom on Page 4. www.schuemann.com/Portals/0/Documentation/Webfile_AET_BARRELS.pdf
