Yesterday, I saw & examined a 7.62 x 39 FEG AK, the Dragunov style SA2000M, long barrel, 10 rnd, single stack magazine. I thought FEG was out of business ? I was impressed with the fitting, workmanship, & smooth action. It was used but like new @ $500. I came right home & looked them up, prices seemed from $600.- 800. & I read the receiver's magazine throat can be opened to accept normal double stack mags if I wish. I wouldn't mind owning one - anybody have info on these, & FEGs business status ? They did nice work on these rifles..

Craig, FEG went out of business in 2004. You are looking at a used rifle made before that date. The FEG AR style rifles were regarded to be some of the best made anywhere and have gone for some hefty prices in the past.

Thanks JayPee, for the encouragement. This FEG SA2000M really spoke to me, & in further reading I learned that this particular model was completely built & assembled by FEG in Hungary, whereas many of the later double stack AMD's were assembled here in the USA of various parts. This Rifle has a single stack 10 round magazine, & the long gas tube system & longer barrel with a compensator/flash hider. It was imported by KBI. I was looking for a longer range AK, than my Romanian carbine. After doing my research, I found that $500 was the lowest price I saw one bring. I couldn't just write a check for it, so decided to try to trade my 7.62x25 PPS 43-C carbine for it. I went back to the dealer & asked about his bottom price, since it was "single stack" with a longer barrel & unpopular style stock, it had not drawn much interest, despite it being the prettiest, like new, one with smoothest action, he had. He came down to $450. Then I told him I had something rare in my car, that he could make at least another $100.on - If we traded even. I was very surprised but he went for it. The Feg AK came with a KBI Manual, extra Magazine, & accessory dust cover with scope rail. He even threw in the transfer fee. I walked out with it, & am very pleased to own it. I don't miss the heavy "pistol" carbine at all. Enclosing an INTERNET PICTURE of the Feg SA2000M. I'm sure they aren't the most popular style AK today, but I'm expecting to enjoy some additional accuracy out of it, & 10 rnd mags are fine with me for bench shooting.
