Hello, Well folks. Over the years I have carried the Colt 1911 in several variations and I feel comfortable with the .45 ACP platform. It was the first handgun I ever shot at about age 8 years old and in later years competed with it in local shooting matches. I can still carry it in a Bianchi "askins style" holster and it will deliver its payload just fine if "I do my part". That is one pistol with the original 7 round magazines that I can still put "dirt to dust". Chris

Hello Mister Coffee,
The shakes was from trying to load faster than they could break down the door - once she was loaded, I steadied right out. Think of it as trying to unlock your house and get in fast because you have to pee really bad.
Fast forward to today - it's been right at 2 years since I started carrying one of my COLT'S over my 9mm Browning's and excluding a coupla occasions, I have felt well enough with 7-Rds on tap, but of course, not having the usual 13-Shots at the ready leaves a void feeling at times.

I never carry just the gun, I always have at least one reload to accompany it. For the last four years my carry choice has usually been a Beretta 92 with one extra magazine, providing a total of 37 roads. When I carry a single stack weapon I carry two spare mags, for a total round count of 25 rounds, give or take. Given that most shootings are solved with two or three rounds fired this is likely more than sufficient, but gives me a margin of error I can live with.
