Hello,
For the sake of conversation and curiosity, what Mainspring Housing and Trigger Combination do you prefer, i.e., an Arched MSH with a Short Trigger, Flat MSH with a Long Trigger, ect.
An Arched MSH with a Long Trigger works and feels the best to me - but all hands aren't the same either...

Hello Bob,
On the vast majority of my 1911's that I have owned over the years, it has been the arched MSH and the medium trigger. It tends to suit my large palm and short, thick fingers.

I much preferred the flat MSH, though I should go back and try out arched housings again now that I’ve been shooting the CZ’s much more.
With the trigger, I’m kinda weird. When using a two hand grip, I like the short trigger, one handed I like the standard trigger.
So my Colt is what I use for bullseye and it has the standard trigger. I got the S&W for action pistol at my local club and it has a pretty nice Greider short trigger.

Am I correct in assuming the Colt factory installed trigger, circa 1967, is a long trigger?

Hello, Mate,
If it's a basic Government Model from that era, it should have came with a short trigger and an arched mainspring housing.
From a side view, the short trigger only extends 3/16" - 7/32" into the trigger housing. The long trigger extends 7/16" or so into the trigger housing.

Tah Mate. I'll have to measure the bugger before I pick an answer.

I like the (flat checkered)combination Mag Well MSH by Smith & Alexander. The Wilson combat (short in my case) triggers are very nice items & can be adjusted, & show no rubbing on the frame. All very comfortable, & a positive improvement for me. Kind of pricey - but I installed them myself on both my 1911's. .
