Bob Reed pointed out we have a good bit of interest in 1911 pistols here... and suggested a separate section for the 1911. Bob was kind enough to take on the chores of moderator for this forum as well. To kick off I thought I'd throw out a couple of my more favored 1911s. Here is an Argentine license built 1911s. It is in really good shape except for the original finish being rather worn. This is a 1931 1911A1 making it quite an early A1 model... Here is a 1911A1 Colt's supplied to the Argentine Army, a few years to the start of Argentina's start up of domestic manufacture of 1911s under Colt's license. Next we have an Ithaca 1911A1 from WWII... a 'plain jane' GI 1911. Finally, here is a commercial 1911 make in 1912 in the first few months of commercial production. FWIW CHuck I for one look forward to having a 1911 section... should be fun. V/r Chuck

Thanks a Million to you and the other guys for adding this section - and helping out here is a pleasure ta boot.
Chuck, you sure have some nice 1911s, and that COLT from 1912 is Absolutely Beautiful.

I guess all the other threads concerning 1911's have to be transferred here(?) e.g. (sorry for taking the liberty of identifying them....not sure if I completed it...already sleepy) 1. "Show Off Your 1911s", "1911 vs. the M9, Did they get it right in 1985?", "Ruger 10mm 1911", "Blast from the past Combat Master", "Engraved Baer" (under General Revolvers and Pistols) 2. "Speaking of 1911s", "Attn BHSS: Springs For 1911 Colts", "My Ugly Model 1911", "Colt 1991 Recycled", " Practically Coltless" (under Colt Revolvers and Pistols).
Regards and good night...

That is a nice collection of 1911s you have there... probably some good shooters to boot. V/r CHuck If it's okay to revive this old thread, I'll post a 1911 pic or three. All with the exception of the Kimber have been custom worked. .45 Kimber Ultra Carry from 20 or more years ago. 1911 series 70 .38sup gov. model. .45 series 70 Combat Commander. 1911 .45 series 70 Gov. model.
