Was watching Independence Day tonight with the kids. I hadn't seen it since it came out, and when it got to this scene, I kinda cracked up. I think they wanted to show off that they had an HP. Anyway, it is carried around at a field meeting, sweeping nearly everyone there, finger on trigger.... it says Iraqi desert, but interesting mix of folks... Not sure where to post this, and hope its ok to link to the images, just kinda caught me be surprise and didn't know if you all had seen this.

It's an interesting photo for many reasons, and not the least the poor weapons handling. They are wearing RAF rank insignia and squadron patches while the aircraft in the background appears to be an F16 which the RAF has never had. Then there are the .50 cartridges and rocks holding down the maps, etc. Also, there is a draftsman's adjustable triangle and what looks like the head of a drafting machine on top of the maps.
My guess? The scene was planned and directed by someone who has never been in the military, and was filmed in the US or - possibly - Israel.

Mark III perhaps? Although we know the hammer is uncocked, the pilot (if he is) is violating two gun safety rules (abninftr is right, the director has never been in the military).
P.S. This is Independence Day I, right?

It certainly looks like a Mk. III... Mk. III sights and spur hammer...
FWIW

Yes, I.D. 1 and the scene is supposed to represent a hodgepodge group from different nations banding together after technological collapse. So RAF and Israeli forces I believe were intentional, didn't recognize others, other than that they say they are in Iraq.
