Hello Howard, Another excellent video and you may have just sold me on the M&P 2.0 .45 ACP that I was handling down at the LGS earlier this morning! I may be heading back tomorrow! Chris

Nice review Howard!
The M&P 45 always fit very naturally for me, still I never got one, I'll need to keep an eye out for a 2.0.
Thanks for sharing!
Chris

Hello Howard, Right now and as of yesterday, I am looking a bit more closer at the S&W .45 Chief's Special. The LGS has them marked a bit lower and that may be a better choice for legal concealed carry. Thanks guys! Chris, if you get that pistol, be sure to let me know what you think of it. Howard The only thing that I have noticed about the Chief's Special is that the slide release is almost impossible to operate, i.e. extremely stiff to the point you cannot disengage it. Chris

I made it last winter to address questions about the M&P slide-stop. I hope it's helpful. Howard

Hello Howard, Thank you for the great explanation and video. I will forward your observations to the owner of the LGS for his consideration when I go down there this morning... I may bite today and get the S&W. If I do, than I will come back here to report my first impressions. Thank you, Chris

Hello Folks, Thanks to Howard's excellent video, I went down to the LGS today with some trading "fodder" looking to purchase the M&P Shield in .45 ACP. (Everyone should own at least one .45 ACP not in the 1911 platform and I have that one covered). I had been down there to the LGS for a couple of days in a row to talk with my friend, Ray, the owner. Finally, I asked to see the M&P Shield and really liked the fit to my hand, the indexing of the sights and the nice trigger pull. This is what I brought home with me this morning: www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/mp-45-shield-thumb-safety-ma-compliantI know what you all are thinking... "Why did you buy the model with the thumb safety". Too me, it really doesn't matter as much as I doubt that it will be used too much. On the flip side of things, the slide stop does NOT operate as a slide release and I have found the only way to charge the pistol slide open is to "sling shot" the slide closed into battery as Howard has already pointed out in his video. (BTW, the LGS owner didn't believe me until I showed him) For the most part, I am very pleased with the purchase and bought a "Sticky" pocket/IWB holster to carry it in for the time being. I may go back tomorrow to pick a spare magazine. The LGS is only 10 city blocks from my house........ Chris

If I had a gun shop within 10 blocks, I would probably be living under a cardboard box in the alley right next to it! Congratulations on your new purchase. Be sure to let us know what you think of it after you shoot it.

Hello, There are "pit falls" to having a LGS so close, but the owner and I have become good friends over the past couple of years and literally discuss everything under the sun that is not related necessarily to firearms and ammunition. He is a very colorful character. It's neat to go down and just poke around even if nothing is of interest or beyond my means. If I had a gun shop within 10 blocks, I would probably be living under a cardboard box in the alley right next to it! Congratulations on your new purchase. Be sure to let us know what you think of it after you shoot it. Howard The M&P Shield was definitely something I wanted to look into and we struck a "even Stephens" deal to trade into one. I won't miss what I traded for it and would rather have a firearm that I will shoot/carry than one that just stay's locked up all of the time. Right now, I am focused on utility vs. collectability. Chris

I’ve been doing the same thing of late. I’ve divested my collection of several “safe-queens” in favor of some different firearms that I will actually fire from time to time. I guess I failed as a true collector!
