While cruising through some gun-related websites I ran into some ads for refinished BHP's at a seller's website called Mach 1 Arsenal in Knoxville, TN. They appear to be used pistols of various vintages that have been "custom" refinished. The price on them is $600, and they will send additional photos of any pistol you happen to be interested in. I've seen good reviews on this company. Their customer service number is 865-982-3950, extension 104. Their site is at: www.mach1arsenal.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3
Also, aimsurplus.com is advertising refinished MkII BHP's for $579. They're at: www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F1FNHPRNS&name=Refinished+FN+MK2+Hi+Power+9mm+Pistol&groupid=8630
The websites don't talk about the lineage of these pistols, but Mach 1 is said to be pretty good at working with buyers, so if anyone is interested in one of their guns, I'd bet they'll tell you where it came from. With the discontinuation of the BHP by FN................hmmm.

Good catch there JayPee... surplus High Powers are starting to dry up... CDISales used to have 14-15 pages of surplus HPs on Gunbroker... now they have maybe one or two guns...
Also, might be a good time to buy if you are looking for deals on surplus guns... prices have been going up and up of late... and I expect they will continue to go up as the supply dries up...

The bottom of the barrel is going to come sometime.

The number of pages CDISales offered has gone up and down over the past few years... but the trend is always downward... they would bounce back but never to the level it had been previously. I'm told this was because the inspected the guns before photographing them individually so you could see the actual gun. This of course consumed considerable time... apparently they did this in batches, thus the up and down in inventory for a long time. From what I can tell there are no more piles of HPs around... but quite a few other pistols, S&W, CZ etc. Small lots of HPs may turn up from time to time, but the flood is apparently over. Looks like I'll be holding onto my LNIB 1988 MKII. Both companies listed have some very nice refinished MKII's for sale. Get them while you can........

I can't see getting rid of any of my HPs. I shoot them all, even the '69C Renaissance model. They are all such good shooting handguns, and I am fortunate to not need the money that they would bring. Ah, life is good!!

This thread got me to thinking - I know, I know I shouldn't tax my brain - I still have the stainless custom barrel from my first HP that got away from me. I guess I might see what it takes to fit it to the HP I have now.
