Hello all, want to share observations on this pistol after 6mos or so use in multiple NRA/steel contests and practice. After my move from CA to AZ the world of local/regional contest shooting opened up and I got hooked. I started looking for a 9mm contest gun. Many of the top shooters I went up against used 4-5K STIs, WC, and such, well beyond my retired budget. I was browsing a local store and happened upon a firearm I had never heard of but it had the bells and whistles I was looking for and the cost was about 500$, a reasonable buy in from my perspective. So I took a chance. The pistol: Canik SFX 9x19, 5.25 bbl, Turkish made Walter P99 clone ish, cut out and plates for a red dot (think Glock and others MOS), striker fire with a wonderful trigger 4lb., 2 22 round mags, lightened slide. Similar in platform to a Glock 34 or SA SD 5.25 competition model. Experience: The pistol s been flawless over many thousands of rounds in contest and practice use. I had a viper red dot and threw that on for my old eyes. Very nice ergonomics and extremely accurate and reliable. I'm not the fastest or most accurate shooter but continually improving. This pistol allowed me to get in the game at least and be very competitive with the fancy Rig group. So if your looking for a reliable contest gun without a huge price tag consider this Canik I think you would be pleased. Cheers Thomas

Hello Thomas,
A couple of years ago I shot my friend Vant's Canik 9mm pistol and it was a joy to shoot! They make great pistols and as you pointed out are "boringly reliable"... (And accurate to boot!). I certainly wouldn't ever consider not owning one. They are great handguns!
Best,
Chris

The Turkish made guns I have shot, and the 1911 I have are all of high quality...
I wish they would import the High Power made over there...
