I know at least some here were stationed in Germany in 'the good old days.' I was too.
So how many of you guys were overseas? If so where?
I was in Germany at Giessen, Stuttgart and Munich (VERY nice assignment Munich) Turkey at Izmir and Incirlik; Egypt out in the western desert and Guam... come to think of it I was gone a long time...
In retrospect some good times where had...

Never in Germany.
Grew up an "Army brat", born in Newfoundland, lived 5 years in the UK (it seemed that Dad, even though he was Army, spent a lot of time at Air Force bases), and an assortment of stateside bases.
Spent 14 months in the Republic of Korea during my own service with Uncle Sugar. Medically retired after an M60 tank accident at Ft. Hood.

All things being equal I think you would have preferred Germany over Viet Nam... V/r Chuck Never assigned to Germany while in the military, but have since visited there. As a young man on active duty in the United States Marine Corps (Combat Engineer 1371) late 70's I spent a year on the island of Okinawa, Japan with the 3rd FSSG. Bounced around to the mainland, Phillipines and Korea. Then rotted at Camp Lejeune, NC for 2 years until I was honorably discharged.
Then 10 years after being released from active duty I joined the canoe club reserves (United States Navy) for almost 18 more years until I retired in 2008. Was told I was cross dresser for doing that? Travelled extensively with a really neat unit all over the world. My civilian employer hated it, but oh well. Places I spent at least 5mo or more were: Korea, Panama, Italy, Sicily, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Iraq. So many more stops in other countries for 30 days or less I wouldn't know where to start. It was a good ride.
