Funny but I have purchased four sets of the Hogue checkered Goncalo Alves grips for my pistols ( only thirteen more sets to go? and really love the feel and non slip surface.

Nice looking grips... I bought a bunch of plain checkered Goncolo Alves grips a few years ago when CDNN had them cheap... I think they look as good as any out there... The Navradex probably fit my hand better however being thinner. (CXM, The Hogue grips are about as thin as any you will find for a Hi Power, much thinner than standard grips. The Goncalo Alves Wood very often has beautiful figuring in it, unfortunately buying sight unseen one is stuck with what is shipped I have some S&W grips that look like balsa wood (ugly).

To my way of thinking, the Navadrix grips (wood and synthetic) are the thinnest grips available for the BHP. The Spegel(sp) grips are likewise thin, but I don't believe quite as thin as the Navadrix ones. Perhaps that is why I own a number of pairs of the Navadrix grips, as they make my HPs feel correct in my hand. YMMV

In the 1970s and 1980s S&W made some of the worst looking grips I have ever seen using what they claimed was Goncolo Alves... I"m not convinced it was however... I have a S&W M686 whose target grips were orange in color... I refinished them using boiled linseed oil... it greatly improved the look of the grips... This S&W has been my test gun for developing 357Mag loads... It is extremely accurate... I would hate to give it up...
