Hi all! Since I haven't had time to make a new video in the past week or so, I thought I'd throw out a golden oldie from last year. Be sure to let me know what you think! youtu.be/sl0XSApybUwHoward

Howard, Excellent review! I carried a 686 for many years as a uniform and plainclothes duty weapon and I absolutely love it. I much prefered its ergonomics over the Python. If I were to carry a revolver again. the 686 would be the one. I modified mine a bit by converting it to a round butt grip and magnaport. You can see some magnaport smear on either side of the front sight. If you're one of those shooters who like coal black sights, then Magnaport is what you want to get. That orange front sight insert would be coal black after the second reload!

I've got a custom Magnaport model 66, and a 629 "Stalker", but I like the 686 in its stock condition. Pythons are Cadillac revolvers, but the 686 is a workhorse! Howard

Hello Howard, What a great video and presentation of the 686! I've owned about three of them when I shot in matches to replace the Colt Python that I deemed to "nice" to shoot full power loads through.... You are correct that it certainly is the workhorse of revolvers! Thank you for sharing the video! Best, Chris

Howard, I much appreciate the objectivity of your reviews. Thank you! I try to be objective. I'm sure a little bit of personal bias slips through here or there, but I do try! Howard

Many moons ago I moon lighted in a cop shop part time to help out the owner when he was in a bind. The S&W Model 686 in 4" barrel length was the stores flagship firearm we sold a ton of. Everyone had one but me. Top of the line revolver.

They are special, appreciate the video. Those were state of the art, and for myself, the 4"er was about perfect.

I like the x86 S&W revolvers a lot... I have a fairly old one that I use as a test bed for my 38 and 357 loads... works just great... In truth there is nothing remarkable about this 686... I just like for what it is... a working gun... FWIW Chuck
