Hi guys... For those of you who like the Barnes TAC-XP round in your 9mms and 40 S&Ws, High Power or otherwise, Cabelas right now has it for sale for almost 50% off: Cabelas Barnes TAC-XP ammo saleI load Federal 147 gr. TAC-XP in the High Power, but I load the 115 gr. TAC-XP in the S&W Shield. Not as loaded by Barnes, but as loaded by Black Hills (law enforcement buddy who was issued the Black Hills version). Has a pretty solid record with agencies who issue it with OISs, according to the SMEs who keep track of such things. The Shield does well with the 147 gr Federal as well, and recoil/muzzle jump isn't something most people who shoot regularly would complain about. But the 115 grain rounds are a lot more controllable shot to shot. Also have a couple of boxes of the 40 S&W 140 gr. TAC-XP salted away. I don't carry the .40 HP anymore since switching back to the 69C in 9mm, but if for some reason the 9mm is on the unavailable list, those bullets also have a good track record and they feel a lot more controllable than the 180 grain ammunition they replaced. Anyways, if you like the Barnes service ammunition, I suspect it will be a long time before you ever see it at these prices again.
