A longtime "bucket list" acquisition had always been an engraved 1911, like something "Lone Wolf" (Manual) Gonzaulllas might have carried to a Bar-b-Que. As I didn't want to merely put lipstick on a pig, the first requirement was a 1911 capable of outstanding accuracy. I looked for and found, a Baer without front cocking serrations, that had Baer's 1.5" accuracy guarantee (at 50 yds). The gun was a shooter, but the trigger didn't measure up- with creep and approaching 4 lbs. I replaced disconnector/hammer and sear (Harrison parts), used a "true radius" sear jig on the sear, tweaked the sear spring and arrived at a very clean 2.25 lb. trigger. I installed a Dawson Fiber Optic front sight as well- as the gun would actually be a "range/competition" pistol. I sent the slide to a bud and had it "round top serrated". I then sent the slide and frame to Michael Gouse for old school engraving. When he returned the finished slide/frame I sent it to Bob Cogan at AP&W for Hard Chrome. Esmerelda Grips located some nicely figured Cocobolo and made some grips for me. The finishing touch was a "Three Persons" rig by El Paso Saddelry. The finished product drew some looks at the range the first time out. It does shoot.

Now that is one beautiful piece!! I can only imagine how proud you must be of it. I don't own anything in this category, but do own a 1969C Browning renaissance model Hi Power. It is my pride and joy, but it makes it to the range also. For a box stock HP, it sure does have a nice trigger pull.
I enjoy handguns that have been engraved by master engravers, and are tastefully done. Some of the old English shotguns have outstanding engraving.
Thanx for showing us your beauty!!

Huntershooter,
I like that VERY much. I too have always had a thing for engraved pistols. It's gratifying to see that you get yours DIRTY too! Your rig is totally excelente too!

That's one nice scratched up 1911. I would be proud to own that one and to go to a BBQ or with it as the guest of honor

Hello Todd, That Baer 1911 is so nice that it actually leaves me "speechless" if that is possible... That is truly a "work of art" and that must have cost a small fortune to do! Best, Chris

That's to pretty to shoot, huntershooter! I've never owned El Paso Saddlery leather, but they do make fine looking rigs. I'd had done a double take also at the range seeing this ensemble. Beautiful!

That is some Baer.....you have there! Get another of those rigs but with a "Chapman" cant and that Baer can do gaming as well as grilling.
