Mr C, I do agree with you, the color did shift darker after applying the leather conditioner. The before images were also taken under bright lights, I bounce lights, so between the two the darker shade. As the conditioner evaporates or settles it might lighted up. Either is fine with me.
He also did expert work on repairing holsters, using the same type material etc that was originally used. He has repaired some of my holsters. Sadly, because of illness he has retired after many years of doing the repair work. And I have 4 holsters that need work & was going to send to him. Now, don't know what to do.
Thanks for the tip on Connolly Hide Care. I just ordered a jar. Per your comment on Jerry Burney, it is always a shame when we lose craftsman and artisans who cater to our firearm collection inclinations. We are also losing many great Hi Power specialists as well. It is hard to find competent replacements with such great skill, period perspectives, expertise and knowledge.
I only have a few early holsters, most in my collection are commercial/non military post circa 1960 Browning and after market.
My early ones are for the Danish contract, and the regularly seen circa 1950 German police/border guard hard shell. The other two are a Hungarian flap holster for the Femaru 37 and a Tanker holster which fits a Femaru 37.
Left to right, Tanker, Hungarian Flap, High Power hard shell, Danish contract.
