I have the chance to buy a WW2 High Power marked in several places with Waffenamt WaA140 and serial numbered 13508a. Does anyone know what the date of manufacture would be?

Welcome to HPC tony The occupation WaA140 High Powers with the "a" suffix were produced between May 1943 and December 1943. The serial number range for the "a" variant was from 1a to 99,999a, with the Germans producing about an average of 12,500 per month. With that, the example you are looking at was probably manufactured in June of 1943. Many did not have a magazine disconnect, so the trigger will probably not have the hole for the pin. IF you get it, please post some images.

As he said picture would help some. The mag safety was used until they ran out, then they didn’t have the cut and hole for the pin. Serial numbers should be the same on slide, frame and barrel. The script b series from 1944 has only the full serial on the slide with the last three numbers plus b on the frame and barrel. They also have little blueing on the gun due to using diesel fuel as a cleaning solvent on the rags would wipe most of the bluing off.
