Well, it was only a matter of time before I found this site, I've been a member of the 1911 forum & S&W forum for years. I recognized toddsig's name from the 1911 forum. Hey guys and Todd. So my question is, what is the hole/pin on the trigger itself, doesn't appear to have any function at all? I have a 69 T series that has a pin and i have a 82 MkIII with a hole, sans pin? What gives and thank's in advance? Tray

The pin in the trigger is for the magazine disconnect. Typically if the pin is out, the mag disconnect has been removed and you can fire without the magazine being in the pistol. Although sometimes after removing the mag disconnect some will replace the pin, just to fill the hole, for cosmetic reasons. Image of the trigger and mag disconnect out of the HP.

That is the mag safety pin. Your newer gun has no mag safety with that pin out. The older one may have a mag safety, but you can put the pin back after removing the mag safety. This is a SA-35 it doesn’t come with a mag safety so there’s no hole in the trigger for the pin.

Thanks Todd, Appreciate the quick response, unfortunately, for the duplicate members they'll be seeing the same ol images I've been posting for years over at 1911, with the exception of a few new. lol Now I remember, thank you. Yeah,I remember now, if you're attempting the mag disconnect removal to remove this pin first because on a select few the disconnect will simply fall out? Not so lucky here I remember. I'd totally forgotten I'd tried the removal. I wasn't able to get the pin to budge and it wasn't more important than beating my frame to pieces, so I stopped. My renewed appreciation to the "Gran Pusant" is simply that. I want more capacity. I'm in the process of getting the MkII "carry dependable" so you'll be seeing alot more of me. Eww! Probably the main concern now is my trigger, is it true that @4lbs. the trigger is at the max to be considered safe for carry? Thanks for all your help, you've always been a great source of knowledge at 1911. Tray
