Hello I have a 1967 Browning Hi Power I bought from GunBroker shipped to my LGS and it came with a full length BoMar Sight Rib. They were closing soon so they didn’t let me take off the rib to see if there were normal sights under. I live in California so I won’t be able to pick it up for 10 days and I don’t really want to drive back just to check. Would anyone happen to know if there is going to be standard sights underneath? Did these Hi Powers come like this from the factory? I know that there will be holes in the slide from the screws but I just hope there are normal sights. Also if anyone could give me anymore information on Hi-Powers that came with BoMar sights id appreciate it. Attachments:

Nice pick up and welcome to HPC. I picked up a '72C series Hi Power a few months ago with a Bomar rib. I posted some images including some with the rib off. Original sights had been removed. This was an after market enhancement and not done by FN/Browning. Used a lot during Bullseye competition shooting. I added the target grips to mine. Here is the HPC link, let me know if you have any questions. highpowercollectors.proboards.com/post/9721

If you had to take an educated guess, since it has the BoMar Rib do you think the action is probably smoothed up to be a competiton pistol?

If you had to take an educated guess, since it has the BoMar Rib do you think the action is probably smoothed up to be a competiton pistol You know, when I purchased mine I was thinking the exact same thing. Then when I got it, it still had the magazine disconnect installed, and for competition that would be the first thing to go. I was surprised the trigger action was not worked on given the sight rib. From your image, your HP has a replaced safety, so additional work has been done beyond the rib. I do see the trigger has the mag safety pin in, but many remove the mag safety and replace the pin to fill the hole. hard to say, I would like to say yes, given the sight rib it makes sense an action job was done, but you just never know. Were you able to dry fire it when you saw in the FFL?

I did dry fire it but having never even held a Browning Hi Power before I wasn’t even sure if the trigger pull was normal or something tuned up. It did feel very smooth though I will say but like I said im not sure if it was a stock tigger pull or not

FWIW, the gun in the photos seems to have a Smith & Wesson rear sight. Installing S&W micro sights on HPs and 1911s was not unusual in the 1960s and 70s but I have not seen one installed on a Bo-Mar rib. That is unusual and makes a nice addition to any collection.
The S&W rear sight on a 1911 or HP makes for a very nice carry set up.

But from the top it is more of a typical Bomar adjustable target sight.
