This Cylinder and Slide facebook post is starting to make its rounds throughout the custom pistol forums. This certainly impacts the custom Hi Power community for those looking for quality spare parts and things like hammer sets, sears, triggers and of course their custom safety. We are losing more and more Hi Power gunsmiths, making it harder to work on and upgrade our pistols. What is als interesting is there is also a facebook post which states "Finally, for those of you asking who does gunsmithing on handguns, please visit the American Pistolsmith Guild website. There are contacts on the website that can help you find who to go to." So not recommending the work or future potential gunsmith services of the gunsmithing staff. Since it appears they are selling off all of the inventory, it does not look like anyone is going to be buying the business. A shame. Cylinder & Slide

Cylinder and Slide would like to announce that after 44+ years of business, we are ceasing operations. We would like to thank our countless customers and fellow industry partners for all their support and assistance throughout all these years.
We do have quite a bit of inventory, fixtures, equipment, factory parts, etc that we would like to move. If you have any potential interest, we are accepting email inquiries only; info@cylinder-slide.com. There is too much list at the moment, but we are generating lists of what we have.
Please congratulate Bill on being able to finally retire! They do, soon to be did, great Hi Power custom work.

Shucks, hate to hear it. That means fewer choices for custom BHP work and parts.
What are our other options now?

Shucks, hate to hear it. That means fewer choices for custom BHP work and parts. What are our other options now? -Phil Other options for custom parts like hammer, trigger and safety are limited. Nighthawk is no longer offering the Garthwaite trigger and hammer sets to the public, only for their own builds. BHSS has their trigger as well as other OEM parts and some custom parts, but without C&S our options are limited. For custom work, (I posted this on another forum) In addition to C&S, as noted by others, over the last few years we have lost some great HP smiths. Including Jim Garthwaite and Karl Sokol both who passed away. Closed shops.... C&S, Robar, Kent Singletary, Fletcher Customs all who worked on HPs and had good reputations. Still out there, Ted Yost, Don Williams at Action Works, Bob Cogan at APW, Ten Ring, Jodi Girtus (ex Robar HP smith), Karl Beining (KGB) and MKIII in Vegas, to name only a few. I would think there are a few more, and perhaps others to step up and fill the void for high end custom work. Although what was great about C&S was not only their custom work and knowledge base, but the custom parts inventory. Hopefully we a get replacement vendor with quality custom part offerings.

Recently posted on the C&S Facebook page. So good news and a little clarification on what is going on. I just ordered some triggers, safeties and hammers. The no bite hammers are listed as out of stock. If you are thinking of ordering, probably best to order sooner rather than later. Once the inventory is gone, even if another group buys the rights, it could be some time before new parts are manufactured and ready for sale.
We would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming support and encouragement. It is truly touching and greatly appreciated. We need to clarify what the future holds for Cylinder & Slide We have been in discussions with several companies who have the passion, experience, and expertise to continue with our legendary customer service and products that you have grown to love and trust. We need to continue discussions and decide who is the best suited to continue building upon the legacy of Cylinder & Slide. After 44 years of business Bill has collected a tremendous amount of hard to find and valuable parts. We are sorting through, cataloging and selling them at discounted prices.

Some good news on Cylinder and Slide The following was recently posted on NRA's Shooting Illustrated page. https://www.shootingillustrated.com/content/cylinder-slide-shop-to-remain-open/?fbclid=IwAR3v1UhzXxgE06Nz1JnPNM8msqwdhO4DUfqjz5EME-hXUfX4l-E864dkFhgCylinder & Slide Shop to Remain Open
One of America's most-storied gunsmithing operations has a new lease on life.
In January, Shooting Illustrated reported that famed gunsmith Bill Laughridge was retiring and closing the doors of Cylinder & Slide unless his search for a new owner—one just as dedicated to providing the quality products and customer service that served as the foundation of his business—was a successful one. The task was a formidable one, but a pair of investors, both gun enthusiasts, are assuming ownership of the company and dedicated enough to continuing the tradition that he is turning over the reins.
Laughridge will remain in a consulting position to ensure a smooth transition to new ownership. His well-deserved retirement will officially begin once that mission is complete.
Cylinder & Slide’s operations will remain in Fremont, NE, where the firm began in 1978. The new owners are already exploring expansion options that include hiring additional gunsmiths.
It didn’t take long for the good news to reach enthusiasts, apparently. Today the company’s website homepage warns visitors that, “We are receiving copious amounts of orders, so we are asking our customers to please be patient with us. We are getting orders out as fast as we can. We ask if you could please refrain from calling and asking where your order is or when it is going to be shipped out. Doing so just takes us away from getting your parts order sent to you. Thank you so much!”
The Cylinder & Slide success story was built on hard work and an unfailing focus on quality. Early in the business, Laughridge specialized in customizing IPSC guns. Some of the circuit’s best shooters were regulars under his tent at matches. Business was brisk, so he traded in the nylon-and-canvas shelter for a trailer fully customized for gunsmithing. For the next 18 years he towed it cross-country to major events, all while managing the growing volume of orders flooding into his Nebraska headquarters. Today the company continues to be a favorite among competitors, but it also offers a wide variety of products and services ideal for handgun owners.

Like Lazarus rising from the dead.
First FN announces the Hi-Power will no longer be produced, almost immediately followed by several companies announcing that they will start producing their own Hi-Powers. Now, this. Being a Hi-Power enthusiast is getting to be an emotional rollercoaster. I don't know how much more of this I can take.
