This site seems to have all the right attributes with the exception of the photo size but doesn't seem to get the traffic it should IMHO. The High Power has been one of my favorite guns for a long time and I keep one with me at night and usually on range day I take one with me just so I'm not cleaning just the dust out of a gun on technical maintenance day. Since I retired I never go to the range on weekends and am lucky enough to be the member of a private range 10 miles from my house. I live in the country and can shoot off my back porch if I like but with things like .308s I prefer not to worry the neighbors or their animals. Not to mention it's nice to have the distances marked off for me. But not liking to deal with crowds at the range I go during the week and 90% of the time I never see anyone. Today I was shooting steel plates at 100 and 200 yards, even hit them a couple times with the practical. There is just something about a SCAR 17s. It has the knockdown power of the .308 with the recoil of an AR15. Combined with an ACOG it can be a force.

Totally agree with you p35, HPC should have more traffic and postings than we do. We have some really knowledgeable Hi Power and weapon experts as moderators and members, all willing to post and share. Chuck who started the board has been an active member of Hi Power forums for a long time, and started HPC when some of the other boards were becoming less than welcoming. Bob Reed, long time Hi Power expert contributed to Stephen Camp's The Shooter's Guide to the Browning Hi Power. HPC has perhaps the best information on FEG clones, and great archives on Hi Power pistols, all clones, timelines, history, accessories and parts. But I will say, we have more serious conversation and less fluff postings than some of the other boards. For images, we are restricted with a size and total image megabytes on the forum by Proboards. Keep in mind if you click on the attached image, it will enlarge. That said, and so we dont overuse the image hosting space allotted to us, we encourage frequent posters to use a free image hosting site, such as vgy.me or Postimages.org to upload your images, and then use the direct url link they provide and then use the insert image icon in the posting panel. Easy, just post the image URL from the hosting site into insert images. Images can be large if you upload a large file sized image to the hosting site. See vgy.me image below using the insert image icon and direct url. Your outdoor range looks great and welcoming, I could see spending a lot of time there. I am just across the river from Washington DC, and I dont have many good options and no close by outdoor options like your range. My closest indoor range is not great, poor ventilation and can get crowded. NRA HQ has a great range, but can be a traffic nightmare to get to. Other good indoor ranges are further out, and nothing really close by for a good outdoor range experience. Totally jealous! My occupation High Power, on vgy.me (and I reduced the image size to 75% of the original.

My biggest BHP problem is; with 8, I can't decide which I want to take to the range! I go every Sunday, and my range is only about 10 minutes from home.

That certainly is a nice range... something that is getting harder and harder to find.
I appreciate your comments on the FN rifle... Growing up with the M14 rifle I appreciate the 7.62x51 round for it's power, range, and accuracy... I was most interested to hear it has light recoil... something I think will become more important to me as the years go by.

Chuck Chuck, After I got the 17s I was surprised how light the recoil was on it. I assume it has a great deal to do with it's extremely heavy bolt which you can almost feel roll back in the frame when shooting. Being an avid fan of ARs and having my fair share of them in just about every flavor colt ever made including one HBAR Elite I shoot on a regular basis. I found another great design of the SCAR is the difference in the gas system. You can fire two hundred rounds from the scar and there is very little carbon in the bolt area at all, it contains most of the carbon in the gas piston just under the front sight which is very easy to remove and clean. The only downside of course is the 17s has the chrome lined barrel and like the average AR with a chrome lined barrel accuracy for long range suffers IMHO. The HBAR Elite I shoot has a Stainless barrel and is extremely accurate and I shoot it with a Leupold Mark 4 8.5x25. My SCAR is an older model with the reciprocating charging handle some don't like but I'm a lefty and when shooting I keep the charging handle on the right side and have no issue with it. The later models did away with this feature. Max
