These are photos of my wedding present from my wife in 1972 - a Smith and Wesson Model 34 .22/32 Kit gun. This one has the add-on Smith target grips they marketed for it back then. It is one of the most uncannily accurate pistols I have ever owned. For a time I was a volunteer line coach in a police firearms training program of a local police academy. During lunch everybody would haul out their sooperhooptydoo Wondernines and 1911's and we'd have a 50 yard accuracy contest. I sure ticked off a bunch of guys by outshooting them with my little Smith .22 Kit Gun. Once, in the presence of a witness, I hit a Coke can with it at 125 yards. Granted, it's so nice I didn't want to mess it up, so it has only fired about 300 rounds or so and has spent most of its life in the safe. But what the heck, it's a wedding present after all. And it's one of those precious Smiths they don't make any more. JayPee

That is a beauty jaypee, but I would have HAD to shoot it a lot more than you did.

Glad to see that I am not the only person who thinks that a wedding present is an appropriate wedding present. I gave my dear wife a Ruger 10/22 for our nuptials 39 years ago. She thought it was a bit strange, but eventually warmed up to it.

They certainly don't make them like that anymore- the gun, or unfortunately the wife.

Beautiful gun and story. I'm glad to know that others (such as sistema1927) have thought that a pistol was a nice wedding present. Back in 1981 I gave my wife a Gold Cup--I bought it at the base exchange shortly before our wedding. Beautiful gun. It's seen only a couple of thousand rounds go through it and is still a beautiful gun. I am thinning out the gun herd now, making more room for air in the gunsafe, but that's one pistol that won't go anywhere until . . . BTW, I gave her a Ruger MK1 for an engagement present.

Sounds like a match made in heaven... Mrs. CXM and I use pistols for gifts fairly often... I'm a lucky guy too... You are indeed fortunate... V/r Chuck Beautiful gun and story. Matches made in heaven. At least I know who can and will cover my back, if needed.
