Hello. I recently inherited this fn hi power and I'm having trouble identifying it's date range based on the serial number information listed on Browning's website. The number doesn't seem to match any of the formats listed there or any photos I've found online. It is 30588 and there is a roll mark that looks like a cursive letter x after but I'm not sure if that is part of the serial number or not. I have included photos of any markings that are still legible. Any advice on where and when it came from would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Welcome, and interesting High Power. Has it a worn chromed finish (if so that would not be original to the pistol)? It is hard to read the markings on the pistol. From what I can see, it appears to be a German wartime occupation produced High Power. Given it is a fixed sight model and not Tangent, and the barrel (cant read the frame or slide marks) has the Waffen mark WaA140 it is typically called the second sub variant occupation High Power with an A or B serial number suffix. "A" marked pistols were manufactured between May and Dec 1943 with serial numbers ranging from 1A to 99999A. "B" variants were produced between Jan 1944 and Aug 1944, and the serial range was 1B to 62450B. Problem is, I too cant read the suffix to the serial number. The a or b variant is my best guess given the fixed sights and serial number. Perhaps folks with better eyes can determine if the suffix letter is an a or a b.

Hello,
I think it's suffix 'a'.
BTW: JZ, I'll move your thread to our Occupation Produced High Powers Section since you have an occupational HP.
