I'm a bit of a novice in high powers. I have one that has a marking I've not seen before. It appears to be an eagle of some sort and it appears on the barrel, slide and a couple of places on the receiver. the S/N is odd to me also - 90921a. I'm guessing it dates back to late '30s or early '40s - strictly a guess. Picture attached. Anyone have info on the mark?
Pardon the upside down photo - it was oriented properly on my PC. And it appears properly on the post when I click on it.

Hello Canoeist and welcome to HPC. More images of the High Power and its marks would be helpful. From what I see you have a German/German occupation produced pistol. It has the German eagle over a swastika, and to the left of it the WaA140 mark, which is a fixed sight pistol. You should have multiple WaA140 on the pistol and parts. The serial number has a suffix of an a, and a number of 90921, which were produced from May 1943 to Dec 1943. Yours given the high serial number was manufactured later in the year. It should not have a magazine disconnect, and some report and recommend not to shoot often as the parts are prone to break (Vanderlinden). Also, tell us what you know about the pistol and its background. I too have a WaA140 a suffix High Power, a little earlier in the year with a serial of 52747a

Hi ToddSig: Thanks for the info! I suspected as much but as I said, I'm no expert. What I really had no idea about was the mfr. date. I'll attach some more pix.
The background info I have is sparse. I picked it up at a gun show at some point between about 1975 & early 1980s. Bought it because it was priced really right and I was already the owner of several High Powers. It came with a white leather clam shell holster that has considerable wear but isn't in too bad a shape. It's marked VD over 1221 between the belt loops. I don't recall the seller having any specific info on the history or background, but I suspected it was far older than any others I had. Pix follow.
