I am new to the High Power. I am looking at a gun with the serial number 50038. They all match. Any guidance on the details of this gun including approx. date it was manufactured? Thanks for your help.

Welcome to HPC buzzy1954. Serial numbers dont always reveal an accurate date of manufacture for High Power pistols. FN did blocks of serial numbers, skipped some numbers and also serialized to contract request. But if you High Power is in the standard serialized number range, although guessing, you are most likely looking at a mid 1950. There were a large number of German law enforcement pistols (no special markings, standard commercial production) starting in the 28000 serial number range and go up to about 60000. These started in the early 1950s. If you could post some images so we can see some of the elements of the High Power as well as some of the proof marks we should be able to narrow things down considerable. Look for a letter with an asterisk above it, which will identify the inspector and date range. Then look for small numbers with lines around it, which are part date manufacture marks. Inspect the trigger, back of the slide stop, hammer, trigger guard, bottom of the grip, firing pin block on the underside of the slide etc. Let us know what you find, and post some images of the marks and of the High Power.
