I recently purchased a 1993 cast frame Mk III. When purchased there were no pictures of the magazine (and I didn't think to ask). Once I received the gun I noticed that the magazine had a bunch of rust on the floor plate, the plate almost looked like it had a "coating" (not blued or painted).
I am curious as to how a Mk III magazine should look? I can get some pictures in a bit and post.
Thanks for any help.

My oldest magazine is from 1943 and does not have what looks like a coating of rust on the floor plate. My two MKllls, purchased new, came with 10 round magazines... it was the AWB days.
Brand new magazines are plentiful and affordable ($25 ish) in 13 or 15 rounds from MecGar, the folks who made the original magazines for your pistol.
Cheers,
Tim

Thanks, Scott,
Scott, your '93 Mk 3 would have come with 2 mags total, and they would look like the magazine in Image 6, excluding the stick-on base pad (those were used on the Practical Model Magazines - same mag, except for the rubber base pad.) And the magazine follower for the time period would look like the one in Image 7.

There is one whole towards the bottom (near the floor plate) on the side that isn't shown.

I don't think there was total consistency in the magazines FN provided with the MKIII (or other models for that matter) HPs. I had quite a few MKIIIs I bought new and at least two different versions came with those guns.
A finish that looked like Parkerized (may have been a blued sandblasted metal finish) and a basic Mec-Gar.
I think it depended on just how fast FN wanted delivery... I suspect some FN orders were filled with what was on hand.
Of course all the guns came with 13 round mags... except the BHP 40s which came with either 11 or 10 round mags.
FWIW

I have to wonder if possibly the OP's mag did at one time have a base pad stuck to it......just a thought!

Keep in mind the HP has been on the market nearly 95 years... lots of magazines have come and gone... I'm sure some were never noticed... I have a number of HP magazines that are unknowns to me... no markings at all and some of questionable quality as well. a LGS had a HP target gun for quite a time before it sold... it's magazines had rubber pads on the base... but I can not be sure they came from the factory that way. Also it is worth noting that Packmyer offered the rubber pads for sale for quite a few years... I bought quite a few a while back only to discover the adhesive had all dried up... not a problem rubber cement fixed the problem. A lot of unknown magazines hit the market during the "Hillary" magazine ban...imported from who-knows-where... I guess that is whats makes HP collecting so much fun... FWIW Chuck I have to wonder if possibly the OP's mag did at one time have a base pad stuck to it......just a thought! That is what I was thinking. Those Pachy pads are everywhere. I have a couple of "Made in Italy" marked parked mags with NSNs and bumper pads.
