Just received two sets of hand checkered grips from Jon Aho of High Figure Grips. Great fit, no adjustments needed. First set, simple checkered ebonized panels to contrast with the hard chrome of a Yost SRT. The Yost came with VZ grips, but needed some hand crafted grips rather than a commercial product. The other set is a nicely figured and checkered cocobolo mounted on a 2012 fixed sight Standard Hi Power. Nothing feels like hand checkering. Jon was great to work with and easy communications. I told Jon what I wanted, he sent images of some cocobolo blanks for my approval. First saw some of Jon's grips on another forum about after market grips, decided to check him out. If you are a grip junkie, try some of Jon's grips, he is a true artisan.

I have to NOT look at aftermarket grips, for I am a true Grip-a-holic, and there is no cure for me.

Those are nice looking stocks, Todd.
I'm glad to hear they fit too - I was just telling a friend the other day how much trouble it can be fitting some brands to the Post-94 cast frames.

Nice looking grips... they really set the pistols off... V/r Chuck Thanks Chuck, I am extremely pleased with the Jon Aho grips. Hand cut checkering just feels so good in your hand, nice and sharp, much better than a lot of the laser cut grips being offered. I have to NOT look at aftermarket grips, for I am a true Grip-a-holic, and there is no cure for me. gt40doc, I too fall into the "Gip-a-holic" category, as well as just about anything related to Hi Powers. I really do think I need help. Perhaps a 10 step program or intervention. Those are nice looking stocks, Todd. I'm glad to hear they fit too - I was just telling a friend the other day how much trouble it can be fitting some brands to the Post-94 cast frames. Thanks Bob. I am really enjoying them and love the way they both look. I really like the contrast of the ebony and the hard chrome on the Yost. I need to try them on an earlier forged framed Hi Power and see how the fit is. Also need to compare the Jon Aho grips to Craig Spegel hand cut grips as well. I think they are two of the best artisan grip makers, who are currently making Hi Power grips. Perhaps this weekend I can get some time to compare the two makers grips, from a subjective feel as well as measurements. Both Spegel and Aho are fantastic grips.

Just got a great set of Jon Aho/High Figure Marble Cake English Walnut checkered grips. Excellent fit, no adjustments needed and fantastic figure. To me, there is nothing like hand-cut checkered grips on a Hi Power. www.highfiguregrips.com/browning-hi-power-gripsOn a 1994 Capitan.

Todd, those stocks are absolutely beautiful and, they are well suited for the Capitan, especially since the Capitan itself just seems to need something a little 'different' from the usual offerings.

Thanks Bob. I spotted these checkered walnut grips on Jon's website and thought they would look great on blued hi powers. For Hi Power grips I like a traditional look, but with some interest, and the full checkering and figure seemed to be a perfect match. Great looking but not overpowering. I like and came close to purchasing some of Jon's Iron Wood grips. His Iron Wood figure selection is amazing, but for my tastes they were a bit too bright/intense for the purist in me. With the Iron Wood I thought the focus would be on the grips rather than the great lines of the HP and grips that compliment. Just my personal taste. Sooner or later I will probably breakdown and also get a set of Iron Woods for a Hi Power.
