Hello Forum members! A few months ago, I bought my first Hi Power Paperwork finally came through and I took it to the range this weekend It's a former Police gun with 1945 (A-serial) frame that got an update somewhere in the 80's I think. It shoots nice groupings, but normally with target pistols, we aim under the black circle, this one shoots at the point of aim, so you need to place the sights in the black circle, making them practically blend in. Is there a paint mod or something like that to keep the sights more visible? Thanks in advance! Kind Regards, Johan

Welcome to HPC Johan. Interesting High Power. Perhaps arsenal rebuilt? Some images of proof and production marks would give us a little more info. I see the slide has an external extractor, so much later than the frame. More images and proof/production marks might help date it. Regarding sight paint, Truglo has a sight paint that might help. With the old hump and bump sights, not sure how much surface you have for the paint and if it would be enough to make a difference. I have never used it so I cant comment on how well it works or lasts, perhaps some other members have and will comment. Truglo paint on Amazon (here in the US) www.amazon.com/TRUGLO-TG985A-Paint-Bright-Multiple/dp/B004Z5CEH8Others have used nail polish. Cheap and simple alternative that is easily removed. If you plan on shooting a lot, given the previous alterations so you would not be altering an early High Power, look into getting installing new modern sights such as Novaks, Heinie, Truglo etc. That might help the sight picture for you.

Thanks Todd,
I'm planning to keep it in its original arsenal rebuilt condition, so dovetailing the slide for after market sights is not an option. I'm more of a purist and eventual mods need to be corrected very easily.
I love the military sights, otherwise I would have bought the sports model high power which is not significantly more expensive over here. (The other arms I have are WW2 era with the most modern one a Hk G3)
I will try to take more pictures this week but if you have a wife that works in the medical system and 3 kids, time is precious..
Kind Regards, Johan

I guess that that sight paint is now called TRUGLO, but when I first started using it many, many years ago, it was called Bright Sights. It is easy to put on, and can be removed without harm to the sights. It stays on well during cleaning and care of the gun.
It comes in different colors, and one can try the different colors to see which color YOUR EYES see the best. I have found that the Intl. Yellow is best for me.....it might not be for your eyes. I have used this material on all of my "shooter" handgun's sights to aid my "senior" eyes. It has worked great for me for many years now.

I used the Tru-Glo paint a few times back in the 1990s... it worked ok so long as you got all the oil off where you planned to put the paint. It had to be re-newed from time to time but that was no problem. Another product I have used is the white paint used to touch up dings in appliances. You can buy it at appliance stores quite inexpensively. It held up very well for me... It is worth a try, particularly if the Tru-Glo product 1) is still made and 2) is available in Belgium.
