Thanks, -Phil Hey Phil, I had seen this GB auction as well, and thought the price was on the high side. Also for the price, I did not like the more prominent postion of the secondary import mark. A positive is it does have what appears to be the Austrian police markings. Although I have not seen them offer an alloy in about a month or so, for quite awhile R Guns on GB was selling 2-3 alloys a week, typically in the $500-$800 range. Condition was really mixed, I bought a few, and they cleaned up rather well, acutally better than expected. The last one I purchased at the end of July and I am now deciding what kind of enhancements I want, either drop in parts or to send out for a full custom build. I paid $531, with shipping, tax, cc it totaled $606. You might wish to reach out to R Guns and see if they have any more alloys or if they are expected a shipment. If you do reach out to them, please let us know what they say. Hello Phil,
I sort of agree with Todd on the price. I think it is outrageously high.
I have three alloys... all in pretty good shape. The most recent one (7/2021 - GunBroker) was under $500 before fees - under $600 all in. The other two were just over $600 all in.
I was able to pick out my first one from four (5/2018) at R Guns, which is local to me. I believe I called to see if they had any in stock, after learning about them from a post here by Todd. None were listed on their web site. The guy I dealt with said they had full unopened crates full in the back.
Cheers,
Tim

Slightly changing the subject. Can anybody elaborate their experience with mating the detective slide kit to alloy framed high power? From what I've read, seems there have been mixed results, some achieve it with no problems and others have had to perform some frame modification to make it fit.
I'm looking at an R-Guns alloy frame in particular.
Thanks, -Phil

Hi Phil, usually it is not a problem. Most Detective slides will fit on FN frames without issue, including alloy frames. Occasionally there will be some fitting problems, and if so, most can be worked out. I had a donor alloy that I tried to put a Detective slide on and the tolerances between the slide and frame rails were just too tight (a 1984 alloy from R guns, I posted about in the FM section of this forum, highpowercollectors.proboards.com/thread/791/fm-detective-availability?page=1 ). I think TNorris (Tim) also posted in that thread on a few issues he had which were corrected. The Detective slide fit on my other alloy frames and standard steel FN frames. It was just that one frame it did not fit. I wanted to use that frame, but bought another R Guns alloy for the Detective slide and it fit fine. In short, in most cases you should be OK. Perhaps a few more members with Detective slides on alloy frames, and steel frames can comment on their experiences. If you have the Detective slide, I would say go for the R Guns alloy.

Hi Phil,
Todd is correct, mine had a minor issue which was corrected.
About 20% of the time, only when shooting live rounds, the trigger failed to reset without me jiggling the trigger a bit. Obviously a really bad problem for a primary carry pistol. It was fixed by shortening the trigger lever just enough and has run like a dream ever since. As a caution... after this operation if I wish to use the original slide, I must swap the modified trigger lever for the original one or it will fire more than one round per pull of the trigger. Dangerous and expensive.
I have since installed the BHSS Trigger and have not yet tried the original slide with the new trigger.
I accidentally bought a third alloy frame BHP last spring. I plan to mate it to a Ceiner .22 caliber slide kit when I get around to it. Perhaps this winter!
* Mark at BHSS figured out what my reset stutter problem was and corrected it for me. He knew from my description over the phone what needed to be done.
Cheers,
Tim

Thanks for that Todd & Tim. BTW, if you want me to help 'correct' your accident, I'd be glad to take the extra alloy frame off your hands. Just the kinda' guy I am, always thinking of others. Thanks, Phil

The gun looks ok from the photos, but the price is pretty high... I think you can find good ones for less...

Phil, thanks for passing along the RGuns response on alloy High Powers. They sold a lot of alloys over the past year, from what I know, most thorugh Gunbroker. Keep an eye on GB for them, as I am pretty sure some of them will re-surface.
