Trying to live up to my High Power Collector moderator title of HPC Historian. The other week I posted some images of vintage Browning OEM Holsters. Now working on a thread for Browning boxes, cases and pouches. While not all inclusive, it a good representation of vintage Browning accessories and approximate years of production. After the boxes, cases and pouches, I hope to get to manuals and after market vintage holsters. Some early three gun Browning cases. Three gun wooden case, mid 1950s to late 1950s. According to Vanderlinden, FN Browning Pistols, page 359 (2nd edition), he notes early three pistol cases were made of walnut. The early walnut cases had external hinges, later walnut cases had internal hinges. This example is an early case, with external hinges. This case has replaced front latches and the red velvet lining has also been replaced (I have the original lining, but it is a poor shape with many holes) Walnut case with internal hinges, second version Later Black faux alligator leatherette three gun case replaced the walnut wood case (above), from the mid to late 1950s to about 1968. This is an interesting three gun case. I contacted the Browning Collector's Assoc and was told this box was made for FN for Browning rollmarked pistols that were being sold in the mid 1950s to American service men in Europe through military post exchanges. According to the Browning Collector's Assoc these boxes did not have the bronze BrowninG badge, and FN boxed them and shipped directly to the PXs per Browning's direction. They also said the FN did not typically sell three gun sets like BrowninG did.

Early Browning single pistol cases Black presentation box with Browning lettering and red felt interior with Browning 9mm foil label, used mid 1950s to about 1962 These red and black plastic cases were used only for a short time starting about 1962. Pistols came in the red cardboard Browning boxes and then transfered into these cases, and later into the leatherette cases. Red and burgundy BrowninG cardboard cases, from about 1962 to the late 1960s. Top lid embossed with BrowninG logo, many times the serial number is found written on the bottom of the box. These boxes replaced the earlier black and red singe gun cases (see post above). According to Vanderlinden, FN expected Browning to sell the pistols in these cardboard boxes, but Browning decided to transfer them to the red and black plastic cases and later the leatherette pouches. In many cases the serial number is written on the bottom of the box.

Around 1981 Browning packaged its pistols in black pinstripe boxes with a label affixed to an end panel and styrofoam insert. These boxes were used until around 1990. Box end label from my 1982 Nickel

Around 1990 Browning replaced the cardboard black pinstripe box with plastic boxes. First boxes were in gray with a red and black foil label, followed by the gray box with white and black label appearing around 2003/4, followed by an orange and black label, appearing around 2009. Around 2015 the box was black plastic with a yellow and black label.

A few later wood Browning Hi Power cases. Listed as Walnut Display case for 9mm pistol. Part code #6515 in Browning 1979 catalog. Starting in 1988 Part code was 6615. Walnut veneer, lower quality than the Centennial box of the same era. 1978 Centennial case, solid wood case (not veneer) and a higher quality fitted interior

A few miscellaneous cases. This plastic case is for a Browning Capitan. You dont see too many of them, most of this style box are FN marked, not Browning. Similar to the above Browning case, but for the Competition model. Note the case is about twice as deep as for the standard pistol case. And, the last are two Browning, probably vintage 1980s glass top display cases. They might have been used for counter display of Browning knives, but I can fit up to two Hi Powers in each.

Todd, that's an amazing collection to say the least. Thanks for posting this!
This one deserves to be a sticky.

I found this vintage Browning counter display case, probably for knives and I just had to have it. I added acrylic racks to the stepped shelves to hold a few Hi Powers, added some lights and the Buckmark BrowninG logo decal to the back panel. A nice edition to some of my boxes and cases. In the case, top pistol is a Grisan MC P35 over two Don Williams/Action Works customs, over a Springfield SA-35.

That's some outstanding ingenuity, Todd.
Back when we lived by an upscale cigar shop, we would go and buy the empty wooded boxes for 1 & 2 dollars each and my daughter would de-sticker, re-stain and then glue green or red felt (your choice) to the interior and they made the neatest boxes for keepsakes, pocketknives, handguns, etc.
